People often wait to see if someone's vision will work. Lisa and Tom Gribbons decided to help make it work.
With a gift of more than $100,000 to the Courthouse Stage, they're choosing to invest in what this city can become rather than wait on the sidelines.
It's not a new role for them. They've been steady presences in uptown's arts, culture, and restaurant scene for years, the kind of people who show up for the galleries, the shows, and the dinners that keep this neighbourhood alive.
Their gift will help create a walkable theatre and culture district, anchored by the historic courthouse. New life in long-quiet buildings, a café and w**e bar drawing people out in the evening, all adding to the energy making King Square and Uptown a destination for everyone in the community.
They aren't investing from a distance. Uptown has been their home for more than nine years, drawn by its energy, diversity, and convenience. It's a neighbourhood they love and want to share, and for Lisa and Tom, this gift is what commitment looks like: not talk, but action, building a future this city can grow into together.
