The Happy Hour Cabaret at the 2026 Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival was an incredibly fun evening filled with laughs, drinks, socializing, and of course dance! Five talented dance artists presented contemporary dance works under five minutes in length, exploring sound, storytelling, and movement in profound ways.

The audience was treated to performances by:

The weather may have kept us inside for the Evening of Site Specific Performances at the 2026 Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival, but it didn’t put a damper on our fun!

We activated Market Square with an appreciative, curious, and engaged audience following along. With performances from:

The Main Stage Show at the 2026 Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival treated the audience to an exciting evening of bold and thought provoking contemporary dance. The workshops at the 2026 Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival offered a range of styles and levels for dancers to explore and experiment with.

The Community Movement Project was led by Holly Timpener, and consisted of three workshops leading up to a performance during the Evening of Site Specific Performances. In these participatory performance workshops, we explored our relationship to place, space, and one another through a series of performative exercises. Together, we investigated how we are shaped by the environments we inhabit, how we influence those environments in return, and how our presence affects those around us. Through movement, observation, listening, and collective action, participants developed a deeper awareness of their connection to the site and its histories.

Opemipo Ade-Akingboye led an energetic workshop fusing African traditional and modern dance with a contemporary base that challenged dancers and left them sweaty and happy!
