Saint John Men's Chorus

Saint John Men's Chorus The Saint John Men's Chorus is a TTBB choir formed in 2005. Since 2019, it is under the direction of Kelly Galbraith.

The Saint John Men's Chorus is a choral ensemble based in Saint John NB for 4 part voices, TTBB that sings a variety of excellent choral music from all eras directed by Kelly Galbraith. It was founded and initially directed by David Mitchell, who developed the unique sound of the group and set the base for its continued evolution over the years. Through the long term commitment of many members cur

rent and since retired, it has been a fixture in the Saint John music scene. Its eclectic performances have addressed a wide variety of tastes in the Maritime community and has attracted the participation of many local performers and composers. Given the adverse trends in musical performance since the start of COVID, it is through the enthusiasm of the Director, Kelly Galbraith and the dedication of its members that they are once again in a position to offer novel and innovative compositions to the patrons of music. Saint John Men's Chorus looks forward to welcoming new members. Our repertoire is eclectic and we sing the best of the classical, Canadian, modern and local repertoire. We have a minimum of two concerts one in December and one in April. We rehearse Tuesday evening, 7-9 pm, Sep-May, and our monthly dues covers purchase of music and a stipend to our musical director and accompanist.

FYI Kelly Galbraith (our Music Director), Rev Dr Ian Manson who keeps our concerts running smoothly, and Cantores Celestes Maritimes chorister and well known local musician Hilary Ladd are involved in these World Music Café events. You may find it an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon starting the last Sunday of the month in September.

FYI - Post from Kelly Galbraith re St. Mark's United Church WORLD MUSIC CAFÉ.

Hilary Anne Ladd, one of our choristers is featured on Sunday October 25th 3 pm.

We are starting a new Coffee/Tea World Music Series at St Mark's United Church beginning Sunday September 27, 3-4 pm. So please mark your calendar.

Starting in September, St. Mark's United Church is going to present a WORLD MUSIC CAFÉ on the last Sunday of each month. It will be a (50-60 minute) musical event that combines the story of an interesting biblical character and the music of a well known singer songwriter such as James Taylor, Johnny Cash, the Beatles etc. It is scripted like a radio show where Ian will tell the story in segments, with music that relates to the character's journey interspersed throughout . It will also show how folks who lived many years ago experienced a lot of the same feelings of love, loss and survival as we do today.
Musician Frank James opens the series on Sept 27th, and
Hilary Anne Ladd will be singing the music of Carole King on Sunday October 25th as Ian tells the story of Sarah (an important Biblical figure from the Old Testament). ALL Donations will be going to the local FOOD BANK!
Stay tuned for more details.
