Pauline Cronin has spent her career in finance and her life in the arts. As former VP & Managing Director at BMO Nesbitt Burns and a longtime cultural community leader, she's the kind of person who looks at a project and asks whether it actually adds up.

She was on the Saint John Theatre Company's Board of Directors when the Courthouse Stage Project was first conceived. She's watched this idea grow from a conversation into a campaign — and she's backed it with a $100,000 commitment.

"I care deeply about the future of Saint John and as an advocate of arts and culture, particularly the performing arts, I find the Courthouse Stage project too compelling to ignore. The city needs a mid-sized venue. The Atlantic Repertory Company needs a home. The Sydney Courthouse needs a new chapter. More to the point, it needs to be saved for posterity. We have an opportunity to create a legacy for future generations by making this happen. I was moved to vote with my feet on this one."

Each summer, hundreds of people gather at Place Fort La Tour for Shakespeare under the open sky. Last season alone, over 1,000 people joined us and four performances sold out.

"When we found our stage at Place Fort La Tour four years ago, it was like coming home; the place seemed built for us, and performing Shakespeare outdoors by the harbour brings so much of it to life. Former lawyer and retired federal public servant Ann Mowatt is a Board Member of the Saint John Theatre Company, and a campaign champion!

"We know we can do great things there, but people have to step up. People have to put their money where their mouth is — and that's basically what I'm prepared to do, because I like the theatre, I like the theatre company, and I can see a very, very good future."

Ann has been a theatre lover since junior high, now committing her time and investment towards 'Possibility Unleashed!". Thank you, Ann.

Imagine — Broadway quality. Saint John made.

Last fall, in collaboration Rogue Productions, SJTC staged Come From Away in Saint John and Saint Andrews. An entirely local cast of theatre artists who live and work in this province, instead of a production that is just visiting.

This September, the production returns to Saint John, Moncton, and Fredericton.

Come From Away is what happens when people decide that local professional theatre matters. This is your Saint John Theatre Company. Help us keep building local culture in New Brunswick.
