🍁 Happy Canada Day, Eh! 🍁

Since 2004, I’ve spent every Canada Day working a festival in the K-W Region; henna in one hand, iced coffee in the other, and a line of smiling faces waiting for their turn. It was busy, it was loud, it was magic.

This is my first Canada Day off in over 20 years… and honestly, it feels weird! No festival hustle, no last-minute panic, no fireworks through the exhaustion.

To all my amazing friends, family, clients, and fellow festival folks, I hope you have the most epically Canadian day ever! Enjoy the sunshine, the fireworks, and maybe a butter tart or three.🍁

🌟 So, I did a thing... and it's 10ft of pure magic! 🎨✨

You know I like to keep things fun, fabulous, and just a little extra. I needed a background that screams ‘cool, creative, and totally me’ for when I record my courses, go live, or just want to look ultra-chic while sipping my chai. ☕

So, what did I do? I went BIG. I hand-drew a 10ft mandala wall mural – because why not?! It all started with a single paisley, and then, like a mango ripening in the sun, the inspiration and creativity just flowed. A little splash of colour here, a little shift of my chair there, and BOOM – instant vibe change.

And you know I never just draw pretty things for the sake of it. Everything has meaning, darling:

🔸 Mandala – The circle of life (because, trust me, it always comes full circle!)
🔹 Paisley – An unripe mango… and when that mango ripens, so does everything else in life. 🍋➡️🥭
🌿 Vines – Growth, because we’re always evolving!
🦚 Peacock – Grace & beauty (a little reminder to strut through life like you own it!)
🌸 Flowers – Nature’s endless beauty 🌿
💖 Hearts – Love, because, well… love is everything!

So now, every time I sit down to create, teach, or just have a moment of calm, I’m surrounded by my own personal masterpiece. What do you think? Fancy one for yourself? 😏

Anyone using FB Marketplace for car cleaning services, do not use these guys:

She claims to be Grace Nathaniel but they are Indian people who have no f'ing idea what they are doing. I have no problem helping out locally in our community but this was deceitful in every form. The new immigrants are using profile photos of Caucasians.

When the guys called me to tell me they were early, I got suspicious but I was assured their work was great. Nothing was great. They are using the wrong cloths and can't see that there are streaks on the windows.

Ask to speak to them personally so you know what kind of service you're getting and who they are.

Smurf Hands Are the New Chic

Guess who’s rocking Smurf hands today?

Yup, that would be me! I’ve been a fountain pen user since nursery school in Nairobi (yes, it was mandatory!). Ballpoints and gel pens, just don't have that same soul because there’s just something magical about writing with my Mont Blanc. It’s like my words flow better and my handwriting doesn't look like ants crawling on the page. But today, my trusty ink well decided to throw a leaky tantrum. So now I’m sporting a lovely shade of "Deep Blue Disaster."

I’ve washed my hands at least 10 times already, and the ink’s still clinging on like an ugly tie-dye t-shirt. Good quality ink, they said. It’ll last longer, they said. Well, they weren’t kidding! I’ll be walking around looking like I moonlight as a Smurf for the next few days. Maybe I’ll start answering to Papa Smurf... or Smurfette, depending on my mood.

Anyway, if you see me waving my blue hands around, just know it’s not a weird new skincare routine. It’s artisanal ink, my friends!

This is it, folks!

My very LAST festival, TOMORROW and trust me, it's going to be one for the books! I’m going to miss all you beautiful humans — chatting year after year, watching your little ones sprout up; going from JK to University and Careers, and sharing this wild henna adventure with you. You’ve made my 21 years in Canada (destination weddings included) an absolute dream. 💕

Seriously, I’m going to miss each and every one of you!

🎉 Happy Rakhi to the one and only brother who’s been my rock through every twist and turn life has thrown at me! 🪨💖

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? Remember those lovely days when you thought it was hilarious to drag me around the house by my braids? 😒 Oh, the joys of sibling life! And somehow, I was the one who always ended up in trouble, even though you were the mastermind behind it all! 🙄 Classic.

But honestly, I wouldn’t trade those wild, mischievous moments for anything. From being my personal tormentor to my biggest protector, you've done it all. 😆💪 We've had our fair share of fights, laughs, and everything in between, but through it all, you’ve always been my solid rock and partner in crime.

Happy Independence Day to all my friends and family with connections to India!

Back in my 20s, I spent 18 months backpacking through India, and it was the first place that truly felt like home. 🌍 The connection was deep-rooted, and despite never being born there, I never felt homesick. 🧳❤️

Today, I'm reflecting on how grateful and honoured I am to have lived in or called other amazing countries my home: England, Kenya, and Canada. Without their independence, I wouldn't be the person I am today. 🙏✨

Here's to celebrating freedom, connection, and the incredible journeys that shape us! 🎉🌟

Happy 24th Birthday Nikhil

I cannot even begin to tell you how proud I am to be your mum. You’ve turned out to be such a kind, gentle, and funny young man. It’s almost like I raised you right or something.

Your obsession with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! is truly something to behold. Who knew there were so many creatures and cards to keep track of? And introducing me to Spy x Family? Pure genius. I never thought I’d be so invested in an anime, but here we are, binge-watching together.

Thanks for dragging me to the gym and convincing me I can lift more than a feather. Who knew I had it in me? You’ve got me pulling and lifting weights I never thought possible. Maybe I’ll become a bodybuilder next, who knows?

Love you always, kiddo. And remember, no matter what happens, I’m always here for you. You’re stuck with me!
