: David Hockney, whose vivid paintings and warm irreverence made him one of the most celebrated artists of his era, died on Thursday in London. He was 88.

His publicist, Erica Bolton, confirmed the news. Indefatigable throughout his life, he worked until the end.

We are now accepting applications for the Charlotte Glencross Scholarship for Professional Development in the Arts. This award, valued at $2000, is determined on a competitive basis will be awarded to a candidate who intends to study arts at a recognized institution for the purpose of pursuing a career as a professional artist or arts professional.

Here’s a peek at Jay Isaac’s process of distilling observations of the biological research and the natural world into abstracted forms. He will etch some of these images into copper plates to create prints as part of his artist in residency.
He is also teaching an acrylic painting course next weekend that looks at how to turn nature and landscape into abstracted forms! This course is a real treat so be sure to sign up! Register at sunburyshores.org/courses
