Damien Alblas is a Canadian alt-rock artist based out of the Kootenay Boundary region of British Columbia. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd to name a few, Alblas crafts original songs that blend folk elements with the dynamic energy of 70’s rock & roll, all while incorporating an 80’s level of showmanship. Alblas and his band delivers a theatrical and captivating live show, threaded with flashes of psychedelia for good measure.

When he’s not busy working for BC Wildfire, Alblas dedicates his time to performing, bringing his anthemic guitar solos and introspective songwriting to venues and festivals across Canada. Over the past decade, he has performed extensively, captivating audiences with his unique sound. Currently, Alblas is recording his debut album with JUNO Award Winning Roger Swan at Hallowed Sound Studio in Nelson, BC with plans for release in 2026.

Tickets on sale now. Link in our bio

The year was 2014, the place was Edmonton and the mission was simple. Spread the highly infectious pop punk contagion to the four corners of the earth and beyond. And, just like that, the first wave of Real Sickies was unleashed. A steady stream of demos and EPs quickly established the Sickies as a local virus to be reckoned with. The band fiercely escalated their fever pitch plans of world domination by sharing the stage with heavyweights Stiff Little Fingers, Subhumans, The Real McKenzies, Giuda, Mean Jeans and The Jolts just to name a few. A couple near disasters almost put the Real Sickies out of commission. Lead singer Ben ironically got real sick and required spinal surgery while a couple of founding members stepped down. This would usually be enough to sink any band; but Ben bounced back like a champion, new members stepped up and Real Sickies released their phenomenal debut album “Get Well Soon”. The band immediately shot out on tour making house calls across nation as many new fans happily succumbed to the sickness for the first time.

Now the Sickies are back and ready for Romance. Love Is For Lovers serves up yet another platter full of tasty hooks and punk rock melodies, but this time around with a dash of pop that shows a leap in songwriting craft. Recorded in Edmonton at Rob Lawless’ Physics Lab Studios, the album offers songs that straddle the border between Ramones style aggression and Strokes reminiscent vocal takes. This color-vinyl release includes everything from explosive rockers to heart-wrenching ballads. “Love is for Lovers” is the whole enchilada!

Melody & The Swing Bastards deliver groove-first music rooted in funk, soul, pop, and rock with a jazz sensibility. This is music to feel, not just admire.

Fronted by award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and Nelson’s 2026 Cultural Ambassador Melody Diachun, the band performs originals from Get Back to the Groove plus tweaked versions of songs you know and love. Expect deep grooves, infectious energy, and familiar tunes turned just slightly sideways.

Despite the name, this is not a straight-ahead swing or traditional jazz show. The “swing” is about feel, flexibility, and swagger.

Unapologetically funky, the band moves between soulful originals and groove-heavy takes on artists like ZZ Top, The Tragically Hip, Prince, The Beatles, and The Police. Smart, accessible, and impossible to sit still through.

Personnel:
Melody Diachun – vocals, percussion
Clinton Swanson – saxophones, vocals
Doug Stephenson – guitar, vocals
Mark Spielman – bass, vocals
Tony Ferraro – drums, vocals

Expect a set that’s polished, playful, and deeply groove-centric. With opening act Fractal Jazz, this show is part of the Blizzard Music Fest lineup at the
