❗️Announcement - Community Drumming Circle❗️for Rekindling the Village weekend, evening event on July 4th.

Meet Your Facilitator: Ismar Silva

About Ismar Silva

Ismar Silva is a Brazilian-Canadian professional musician, drummer, educator, and certified Community Drumming Circle Healing Facilitator. For many years, Ismar has used music and rhythm as tools to bring people together, strengthen community connections, and support personal well-being.

Through his Community Drumming Circle programs, Ismar creates safe and welcoming spaces where participants can experience the power of rhythm, connection, and self-expression. His approach combines musical expertise with a deep understanding of how drumming can support emotional wellness, stress reduction, and community building.

Community Drumming Circle Workshop

The Community Drumming Circle is an interactive experience designed for people of all ages and backgrounds. No musical experience is required—only curiosity and a willingness to participate.

During the session, participants explore rhythm using a variety of drums and percussion instruments. Through guided activities, group rhythms, and creative expression, participants experience the joy of making music together in a supportive community environment.

Many people are drawn to drumming during times of stress, grief, personal challenges, life transitions, or when seeking opportunities for relaxation and connection. The vibrations and rhythms of the drums can help participants become more present, focused, energized, and connected with themselves and others.

Research in music therapy and wellness has shown that music can contribute positively to emotional well-being, stress management, social connection, and overall quality of life. While community drumming is not a replacement for professional medical or mental health care, it can serve as a meaningful complementary practice that supports personal wellness and resilience.

Participants may join for many reasons, including:

• Stress reduction and relaxation

• Building community and social connection

• Supporting emotional well-being

• Finding a positive outlet for self-expression

• Celebrating life and shared experiences

• Recharging energy and creativity

• Honouring personal journeys and healing processes

The Community Drumming Circle session typically lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours and offers a unique opportunity to experience the power of rhythm, connection, and collective music-making.

Workshop Motto

“When we drum together, we reconnect with ourselves, with each other, and with the strength that lives within every community.”
