VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT. PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY.
I've been using Facebook since 2008. I have a lot of good memories on here. Memories of friends and family who are no longer with me, memories of conventions, my first fursuit that I made, and overall, just watching myself grow as an artist and business.
I've watched this platform change very badly for the worse over the years, from fighting the algorithm to get my posts seen by my friends and followers, to avoiding using certain WORDS in my posts to avoid it being pushed down in the news feed, avoiding adding links, posting at certain dates and times, everything. It's been a constant, nightmarish grind. No matter what I did or no matter how hard I tried, I was always fighting against this platform, but I stuck with it for those who have been following me since the beginning.
The past 3 years have been the absolute worst for the internet since its inception. The internet used to operate like a library. It fostered a sense of community, information, and a place for connection. I remember poking people here on Facebook and sending Farmville game requests. Now unfortunately, instead of a library, the internet as a whole has turned into a store. Companies competing for your attention and your money. But thats not the worst. What finally pushed me over the edge was this:
On October 30th, 2026 Meta is chanignig it's polices. This is what is changing, I have copied and pasted it directly:
"Licenses & Rights You Provide Meta: As described in "The permissions you give us" section in our Terms, you grant us a license to content that is covered by intellectual property rights (like photos or videos) you share, post, or upload on or in connection with our Meta Company Products ("Content"). That license applies to Content you or someone on your behalf (such as your agency that places an ad for you or your service provider that manages your Page content for you) makes available on or in connection with any Meta Company Products. Without limiting anything in our Terms and for clarity, Meta may use such Content as described in our Terms, including to provide, develop, improve, research, and maintain Meta Company Products. You represent and warrant that you own or have secured all rights necessary to grant the licenses and rights you (or someone on your behalf) grant to us under the Commercial Terms and any applicable supplemental terms, including permission to display, distribute, create derivative works, and deliver your Content within the Meta Company Products, and that your Content will comply with all applicable policies for the Meta Company Products.
You authorize us (or any entity acting on our behalf) to use automated software (such as web scrapers, bots, robots, spiders, crawlers, and user agents) and create test credentials to access, index, cache, analyze, collect, retrieve, or crawl the domains, web pages, or URLs (and any content available through them) that are associated with your products or services, or that are made available through your or users' use of Meta Company Products and services, and to periodically pull updates from such domains, web pages, or URLs in order to provide, develop, improve, research, and maintain advertising and business products (including business, commercial and related products to help you create and deliver ads and other commercial content, provide users information about your products and services, and connect you with users who may be interested in your products and services) and maintain the integrity and security of Meta Company Products."
IN other words, everything I post on here AND any links I share on this platform, INCLUDING my own personal website which I built MYSELF, will be granted access to be scraped and used for AI data training. All of my work will be stolen and used to be fed into AI. Yes I am aware that has already been happening for the past 3 years, but this is different. This now involves any external media as well and I just have to put my foot down.
I'm tired. I'm so fu***ng tired.
I'm tired of people not caring about the environmental impacts of generative AI.
I'm tired of seeing AI slop everywhere online and in person.
I'm tired of having to use my PC's GPU to render anti-AI filters on all of my artwork I post.
I'm tired of the constant disrespect and joke people make of my career.
Art has always been a joke to people and during Covid, things were looking up. People started to respect artists more and understand the process behind my craftsmanship. I spent the past 15 years grinding so hard to make art my full-time job but that couldn't be further from the truth. I genuinely don't know what to do with myself anymore or my life.
I will be leaving Facebook. I will no longer be posting here. If you wish to stay up to date with me I have a newsletter you can subscribe to on my website, or just send me a carrier pigeon. I am removing all of my links off of here.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to do the same with Instagram. It's not an easy decision. This has been very difficult for me but I can't do this anymore.
