📝 Reminder! Richmond-based artists are encouraged to submit proposals for the 2026 No. 3 Road Art Columns Program, Part II, on display from August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. Three commissioned artists will each receive an artist fee of $1,500 for four print-ready digital artwork files. This opportunity is relevant to artists residing in Richmond with practices in mixed media, painting, illustration, photography, printmaking, drawing and other media.

👩‍🎨 Artist Fee: $1,500.00
🎨 Eligibility: Artists residing in Richmond. Must be 19+ years.
🗓️ Submission Deadline: Thursday, May 28, 2026

About the Presenters:

Ilena Cramer is a multi-disciplinary artist, teacher, writer, designer and lifelong student of ceramics and clay. She studied ballet in Russia during Perestroika, received an arts degree in Alaska, made pottery in the mountains of Mexico, and has created many plays around the world. Her current practice finds local landscape, environment and materials encountering myth, story and history.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Sophie Slater is an arts administrator, market organizer, and textiles artist based in Vancouver. Sophie’s artistic practice explores natural dyeing, quilting, and basketry. With five years experience organizing craft fairs, and working as Operations Manager at artist-run centre Western Front since 2023, she leads Toque Craft Fair every December.

Toque Craft Fair is an annual holiday market and community fundraiser benefiting Western Front, a non-profit artist-run centre in Mount Pleasant. Welcoming over 5,000 visitors each year, Toque features a curated selection of artists, craftspeople, and designers—showcasing the very best of what’s made in BC. Spread across two floors of Western Front’s heritage building, the fair invites you to shop from over sixty artists and connect with the creativity rooted in our community.

Aaron’s residency will explore themes of queerness, intersectionality, identity and bridging cultural and generational divides. From April 4 to June 20, Aaron will support emerging writers through a series of free workshops, events and conversations for teens and adults.

This year’s Richmond Children’s Arts Festival celebrates the power of the arts to foster understanding and connection in families and communities across generations and cultures, building community, inspiring curiosity, and exploring through play. The 2026 Children’s Arts Festival is coming up soon on Monday, February 16! 🎉

We’re excited to celebrate Family Day with the community, and hope you’re ready for a full day of fun and excitement for the whole family.

Here’s some important info at a glance:

🆓 It’s completely free to participate in the festival this year.

🚏 Public transit is the best way to get here as parking is limited. Take the Canada Line to Richmond-Brighouse Station, or any buses that stop at Richmond Centre.

🍼 Stroller parking is available outside of the Cultural Centre by the water fountain.

🍴 Food trucks like , , and Roasted Revolution will be onsite. There will also be water fountains for you to refill your water bottles.

♿ The festival is fully accessible. Accessible parking is available behind the the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex, and accessible washrooms can be found inside the Richmond Cultural Centre.

ℹ️ Please head to the Information Desk at either the Cultural Centre or the Cultural Centre Annex if you have any questions.

Visit the Teddy Bear Repair Café happening February 16 at the Richmond Children’s Arts Festival for our friendly “doctors” who are ready to help well-loved stuffed animals with anything from rips and tears, to reattaching limbs and restuffing toys!

The City of Richmond supports a circular economy by encouraging residents to use, reuse or repair and recycle items multiple times to help reduce waste and reliance on natural resources. ♻️🛠️

Booking an appointment is recommended, and drop-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until 4:00pm. One item per session only.
