“I have been dancing at SDA for 13 years!”

What is your favourite style of dance and why?🩰
“My favourite style of dance is tap because I love the rhythms and creativity that come with it. Over the years, tap has given me so many unforgettable memories, from making new friends to performing some of my favourite recital dances on stage. It’s a style that has helped me grow in confidence and brought me so much joy throughout my dance journey.”

What is your favourite dance memory?💕
“My favourite dance memory was performing in recital two years ago with my sister. We did a dance called “Gone Gone Gone” for her graduating year, and it was the last time we were able to share the stage together. I started tap when I was younger, and after seeing how much I loved it, my sister became interested in it too. Being able to share my passion for dance and tap with her made that performance even more special. It was such a meaningful and emotional moment for me, and it’s a memory I’ll always hold close to my heart.”

“My favourite dance style is contemporary because I love that I’m able to combine the strength and technique of ballet while still being free and expressive with my movements.”

“My favourite dance memories are seeing my friends and helping out with the mini ballet classes on Saturdays!”

What is your favourite style of dance and why?🩰
“My favourite styles of dance are Tap and Lyrical. I will always love Tap because of the fast steps and rhythms. Tap was one of the very first styles of dance I did and it will always mean a lot to me. I also enjoy Lyrical because you can express emotions and really connect with the music”

What is your favourite dance memory?💕
“My favourite dance memory is the Friday nights spent at the studio, as well as the calming meditation classes!”

“I have been dancing since I was 3, and joined SDA in 2015”

What is your favourite style of dance and why?🩰
“My favourite style of dance is hiphop. When I first started, my mom always pushed me to do hiphop but I never listened to her. When I finally tried it, I fell in love. As someone who is very high energy, it felt like a perfect match. Despite how low my mood may be, it always finds a way to make me feel better. Over the years, I have grown closer with hiphop and it has given me the opportunity to learn more about the amazing people in this community. I am so grateful for being able to choreograph my own hiphop solo this year and being able to witness all the love and support from my studio and others. It is truly a love that will never be lost.”

What is your favourite dance memory?💕
“My favourite dance memory was in jazz line choreo when a wasp entered the studio. Everyone was running around screaming when Ken and Julia came to the rescue. They started throwing an empty tissue box at it and on their 20th attempt they caught the wasp inside the box. Afterwards, everyone thanked our very own studio beekeepers!🐝”

“I have been dancing for 14 years, 11 of which have been at SDA!”

What is your favourite style of dance and why?🩰
“My favourite style of dance is lyrical! 🫶 It allows me to not only work through my emotions, but also invite an audience to understand and interpret my story in their own way. It has always been the style I gravitate towards most because it challenges me to be both technically precise and emotionally present at the same time.”

What is your favourite dance memory?💕
“My favourite dance memories that I’ll always cherish are late Friday night rehearsals, dinners after long competition days, and sharing the stage with my best friends. The friends I’ve met through dance have made these experiences so meaningful - turning even the hardest days into something I’ll always be grateful for. ❤️❤️❤️”
