Roxy Theatre Revelstoke

Roxy Theatre Revelstoke Vintage theatre, comfortable signature rocker chairs, the BEST popcorn in Revelstoke. We use state-of-the-art digital projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 sound.

BUILT IN 1904 AND OPENED IN FEBRUARY 1905 AS THE LAWERENCE HARDWARE COMPANY AT A COST OF $50,000. THE ORIGINAL HIGH VICTORIAN FACADE WAS ALTERED TO THE CURRENT ART DECO LOOK IN 1937-38 WHEN IT WAS CONVERTED TO A MOVIE THEATRE. In 1938 the new cinema was named the Avolie Theatre, which was the winning name, picked from over 150 entries in a local contest. The name was changed to the Roxy in 1952 by the new owner, at that time, H.J. Stevenson of Prince George, It has continued as The Roxy Theatre to the present with a brief closing in 1984. Painted graphic ads from the original hardware store can still be seen on the top of the northeast side wall of the building, and in fact the two side walls and the back wall are original walls from the 1905 Lawrence Hardware Store, as is the original stone walled full basement.

Rotten Tomatoes: 86% 🍅

Brad Pitt heads into the wild in Heart of the Beast, a rugged survival adventure about a former Navy SEAL and his retired combat dog fighting to make it home after disaster strikes deep in the Alaskan wilderness.

It’s got Brad Pitt, spectacular scenery, survival, adventure and a very good dog at the heart of it all. 🐾❤️

With the temperatures dropping and fall settling into the mountains, this feels like exactly the kind of movie for this time of year: big landscapes, a gripping story and plenty of heart, all made for the big screen.

HORROR MOVIE SEASON HAS ARRIVED AT THE ROXY! 🔪🍿

Just in time for October, RESIDENT EVIL hits the Roxy this Friday for a one-week run!

The legendary survival-horror franchise is back on the big screen, bringing us once again into the terrifying world of Raccoon City. 😬

From Zach Cregger, the writer/director behind the breakout horror hits Barbarian and Weapons, comes a new trip into the terrifying world of Resident Evil — zombies, mutated creatures, Umbrella Corporation secrets and plenty of reasons not to wander around alone after dark.

Early reviews have been strong, with particular praise for the film’s return to the creepy, survival-horror atmosphere that made the original games such a phenomenon.

And this is exactly the kind of movie that’s better in a theatre. A dark auditorium, a HUGE screen, and our newly upgraded Dolby CP950 sound system surrounding you with every footstep, scream and noise coming from somewhere you really don’t want to investigate. 🔊😱

🍂 The leaves are changing.
🎃 October is here.
🧟 The zombies are back.

Here are the showtimes for Resident Evil:

SOUND UPGRADE AT THE ROXY! 🔊

Another behind-the-scenes upgrade is complete at the Roxy!

We’ve replaced our long serving Dolby CP750 cinema processor with a new Dolby CP950 — essentially the brains of our cinema sound system.

So, what might you actually notice?

🎙️ Clearer, more natural dialogue coming from behind the screen
🎵 More detail and separation in music and sound effects
🔊 More precise surround sound, making movement around the auditorium feel smoother and more convincing
💥 Cleaner, more dynamic sound during those big action sequences, while retaining the quieter details
🎬 Better processing of the modern digital soundtracks arriving with today’s films

The new CP950 was professionally installed on Thursday September 24th, and our entire sound system was B-chain calibrated by ProjecTech, balancing and tuning the system specifically for the Roxy auditorium.

And our trusty old Dolby CP750 isn’t headed for the scrap heap! After many years of service at the Roxy, it has moved on to our friends at the Gem Theatre in Grand Forks, where it will continue its life helping another independent BC theatre. ❤️🍿

Combined with our recently upgraded larger screen, this is another investment in keeping the Roxy experience where we want it — big picture, big sound, and a proper night at the movies.

Upgrades like this are also about keeping the Roxy reliable for the long haul. As cinema equipment ages, replacement parts and support become harder to find. Modernizing these critical systems before they fail helps us prevent unexpected downtime and, most importantly, keep the movies playing!

Next time you’re here, listen closely. You might be surprised how much of an upgrade you can hear.

See you at the movies Revelstoke! 🎥🔊🍿

TEENAGE S*X & DEATH
AT CAMP MIASMA (14A, 100 mins)

A wildly entertaining throwback to the golden age of summer-camp slashers, Teenage S*x & Death at Camp Miasma mixes horror, dark comedy and plenty of blood-soaked fun. When a filmmaker sets out to revive a notorious 1980s slasher franchise, things get increasingly strange and the line between making a horror movie and living one starts to disappear.

If you like your horror weird, funny and a little unhinged, this one is for you. Catch it on the big screen during its one-week run at the Roxy!

TONY (14A, 106 mins)
Playing Sept 4-10th, 2026

From acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson, director of BlackBerry and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, comes TONY, a new A24 biographical film exploring a formative chapter in the life of Anthony Bourdain.

Rather than attempting to tell Bourdain’s entire life story, TONY takes us back to the summer of 1975, focusing on one transformative period when a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain worked in a kitchen in Provincetown, Massachusetts — years before Kitchen Confidential, No Reservations and Parts Unknown would make him a cultural icon.

Bourdain became far more than a celebrity chef. His curiosity, humour and willingness to venture beyond the familiar changed the way millions of people thought about food, travel, culture and the people we meet along the way. His influence can still be felt throughout food and travel culture today.

With Johnson’s distinctive filmmaking style and A24 behind it, TONY looks back at the young man before the fame — and at a summer that helped shape the Anthony Bourdain the world would eventually come to know.
