Munch is a non-profit. We are a social enterprise running a restaurant and a catering business to employ people with cognitive differences. Nine of our 11 staff have cognitive differences. We run with more staff per shift than a for profit operation, and this means we have extra costs. We do extra things a normal business would not do. Work experiences for students, cooking classes for people with disabilities, inclusive free social events, finding jobs for our team members so we can train more team members, participating in meetings that improve the lives of people with disabilities and other things that help to fulfil our mission.
Our long term goal is to be self sufficient based on restaurant and catering sales, but until we are consistently full, we need community support to balance our budget. We are good for awhile, but will need to generate about $45,000 of donations between now and next April to balance our budget. Or we need our restaurant sales to double - or a mix of the two.
Support can take a number of forms.
1) One time tax deductible donations. If you can afford it, great, if not, maybe your workplace or union will donate?
2) Small recurring tax deductible monthly donations (eg: $10 or $15 per month). If 1000 people donated $10 per month each our goal would almost be achieved.
3) Make us your regular food and coffee stop. Our food and service are excellent, and so are our prices. Bring friends so they know about us too.
4) Ask us to cater your next event, or convince the person who orders your catering to give us a try.
5) Offer to volunteer helping to market the cafe.
6) Offer to help fundraise for Munch.
