Wen River. Seven door boards.

Chinese historical retellings of the Menglianggu Campaign say that on the night of May 12, 1947, Li Guifang, women’s federation leader in Yi’nan County’s Ma Mu Chi area, was told a bridge was needed on the Wen River within five hours so East China Field Army troops could move. With most men already forward and no timber, the women took door boards from their houses.

Accounts say 32 women formed the piers. They stood in the cold water for about an hour while roughly one regiment — described in some retellings as around 2,000 soldiers — crossed on the boards. The same accounts say the soldiers hesitated to step on it and were urged forward. A sculpture of the scene stands at the Menglianggu Memorial Hall. Li Guifang died in 2017.

The original post’s claim that this shows a “lesson about the gender war” is the author’s opinion. The documented account is a 1947 civilian-support story from the Chinese Civil War.

Highway 219. Friday.
50 in a 100. Name not released.

Corman Park Police Service stopped a vehicle on Highway 219, south of Saskatoon, on Friday after it was travelling 50 km/h in a 100 km/h zone and failing to stay in its lane.

Police say they seized $3,600 in cash, two scales with co***ne residue, hundreds of small baggies, unstamped to***co and other drug paraphernalia.

They also seized bear spray, a collapsible baton, a prohibited knife and a BB gun.

The driver is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and weapons offences. Police say the driver failed a standardized field sobriety test and received a 21-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

No name is in the report. The charges are allegations until a court decides.

The 50-in-a-100 line is the stop. It is not the finding on the drug count.

Cut Knife RCMP got a report at about 12:30 a.m. on October 9 of an attempted vehicle theft on Poundmaker Cree Nation.

Jeremiah Sokwaypnace, 19, is charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of a fi***rm knowing it was unauthorized, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a fi***rm, possession of a fi***rm in a motor vehicle, two counts of weapons or fi***rms possession contrary to an order, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

RCMP describe him as 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, brown eyes, short brown hair, tattoos on his left hand. He might be driving a black Dodge 1500. He is known to travel to Cut Knife, North Battleford and Lloydminster.

Do not approach. RCMP say he might be armed and is considered dangerous. Call 310-RCMP (7267).

The charges are allegations. The warrant is the status. The victim reported no physical injuries.

Thomas Henry Farquhar, a Saskatchewan man and first officer, was among those killed in the Latitude Air Ambulance jet crash off Nantucket, Massachusetts, on October 3, 2026.

Other names released: Philip Childerhose, captain; Sarah Paton, flight nurse; Jolene Weir, respiratory therapist; Marilyn Lavonne Bean, 66; Sergio Wayne Lottimore, 41.

A second post of the same crash does not add a cause or a new name. The status is the official list of six.

$85 million. No Friday winner.

Friday’s Lotto Max draw was set at $80 million. No ticket matched all seven main numbers. The next draw, Tuesday Oct. 13, is set at $85 million. Loto-Québec said the prize pool will be $101 million, including the $85 million jackpot, an estimated 16 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million each, and 85 prizes of $100,000.

A Lotto Spot spokesperson called it a first for Lotto Max. CityNews reported the previous high was an $80 million jackpot claimed in December 2025 and split between two tickets in London, Ontario. The jackpot cap was raised to $90 million earlier this year.

“Largest prize in history of Canadian lotto” is the headline for the main jackpot. It is the largest announced Lotto Max jackpot. It has not been won yet.
