Remember Julian Taylor from last November?! Congratulations!! 🎉🎉

Last night was magical. I was lucky enough to take home the award for Contemporary Singer of the Year at the 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Here’s what I wrote and said as I accepted this great honour. Much love to the folk music community and all my peers. I’m deeply touched.

Thank you. It’s an honour to be here among so many incredible artists and people. Everyone in this room is an inspiration not only to me but to the world and the world needs your healing gifts.

We’re so lucky and I am so grateful to share this space with you all. Sometimes it feels futile to celebrate when there is so much suffering in the world but I do think it is necessary for community to gather and build each other up which is what the Folk Music Community does time and time again Thank you to the Canadian Folk Music for this prestigious honour and congrats to all the nominees. Everyone’s a winner baby, that’s a fact. Always remember that music is not a competition it is a rescue mission and we all have work to do. So keep writing, keep singing, keep collaborating and building. Together let’s show the world that love and compassion are bigger than hate and division and that unity is what’s going to help every living being here on the planet thrive and survive.
