MEET THE WOMEN OF LADY DOTH PROTEST!
Juliet played by Halina. Halina Anderson is an Indigenous actor born and raised in Central Alberta. She can be found at the Red Deer Pottery Club, getting arms deep in clay, creating horrors unknown to man and the odd coffee mug, in her spare time. She is no stranger to Shakespeare having played Mistress Ford and Hamlet in the past, but her most recent roles include: Eileen Spencer and Mary Bennet in C.A.T theater’s production of Bookclub and Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly, and now Juliet in The Lady Doth Protest with Primestock Theater.
Ophelia played by Mackenzie. Mackenzie Caddy is thrilled to be portraying Ophelia in The Lady Doth Protest. Since childhood, Mackenzie has taken any opportunity available to participate in theatre. Recently, she has been in local productions such as Frankenstein, as well as directing and acting in a play as part of a one-act festival with the show Her Only Customer. This is her first venture into the world of Shakespeare, and she is excited to explore Ophelia’s fate in this production!
Lady Macbeth played by Jessica. Jessica Baker (she/they) is thrilled to be returning to the stage after a two-decade long hiatus! A long-time Red Deer resident, Jessica is currently completing her Bachelor of Education at Red Deer Polytechnic. With a love of the dramatic arts that has never dimmed, she is especially honoured to be part of this all-woman celebration of Shakespeare’s most compelling female voices. Big thanks to her theatre buddies who prompted this return, her partner Terry and her family and friends for their support!
This production is a curated collection of monologues, sonnets, and short scenes, Reimagining The Women of Shakespeare!
