A few of our dancers had the privilege to perform at the Ponoka Read my Hips fundraiser gala (Crystal Weran, Amber Gardy, Adara Flett, and Eleah Marryat). It was a beautiful evening thank you so much for having us.

Datura Allure member feature, meet lovely Eleah 🌺.

Eleah has always had a creative spirit and love for the arts. As a child she always found herself in the midst of a new crafting project and always dreamed of becoming a ballerina. She dabbled in music and played the French Horn, performed in various school and community plays, and sang for seven years as a first soprano with her high school ladies choir and University of Alberta Mixed Chorus. As an adult her longing for dance became stronger and brought her to Sacred Circle Belly Dance studio where she fell in love with the fun energy, feminine movements, and celebration of the female form no matter their shape, age, or size. She found herself surrounded by a kind, supportive, and enthusiastic group of woman and finally felt at home. Her intentions for dance were never to perform but to learn and absorb all she could from her teachers in many styles including American Cabaret, Fusion, and Datura Style™. Her love of music combined with movement intrigued her even more. Following her first ever dance performance in 2019 Eleah knew she had to perform, her passion was ignited! She has since performed at local festivals, and has immersed herself in Datura Style™, learning all she can from her talented mentor and teacher Crystal Weran. Eleah is now part of the wonderful Datura Allure family and is thankful for the opportunity to learn and perform alongside such a talented group of ladies.

Belly dance has imparted Eleah with a new appreciation for her body, its abilities, and has instilled within her a new self-confidence she did not know was possible. Belly dance has provided the community, challenge, and artistic expression she has always longed for. She looks forward to many more years of growth, learning and performing ahead.

Datura Allure member feature, meet lovely Adara 🌺

Adara discovered her passion for belly dance four years ago. She has always been in awe of many styles of dance but grew up without any opportunity to learn.

When she moved out of her small town in Newfoundland, she immersed herself by dabbling in chair dancing, burlesque, hip-hop, reggaeton dance, bollywood style, and many others. She fell in love with the thrill of performance and the self confidence she gained because of it. Growing up, she disliked playing sports or working out. She never thought breaking a sweat could be so much fun!

When she decided she wanted to give belly dance a try, she discovered Crystal and the Sacred Circle belly dance studio, she had no idea the amazing world she was getting herself into. She found herself trying all of the styles she never knew about such as; American Cabaret, FCBD®, Fusion & Datura Style™. She has performed at various festivals and venues onstage and in restaurants. Datura Style™ draws her in the most with its slinky, sultry movement mixed with the teamwork of improv.

Adara feels a deep connection with the empowering womanhood belly dance has blessed her with and the many women that share her passion. This is the type of joy that words can hardly explain.

Datura member feature, meet lovely Alyssa🌺

Alyssa has always had a passion for dance that stared out at a very tender age. At the age of 2, Alyssa was invited to join tap classes a year early. Dancing on the sidelines of her sisters tap class she had the attention span & the desire to learn. Alyssa quickly blossomed as a dancer, moving on to larger studios & always adding new genres of dance to her studies. Alyssa has studied & taken her A.D.A.P.T & Cecchetti dance exams. Alyssa has competed in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary & Musical Theatre. She has won many outstanding, platinum & performance awards over the years including the Central Alberta Dance Festival under 12 solo scholarship for placing Gold in 2 different disciplines. She won 1st place & outstanding at the Central Alberta Festival in 2001 for her very first musical theatre solo & was also scouted to perform at Klondike days talent explosion.
Alyssa also took a year of non competitive while taking her Cecchetti training. She also studied Flemenco dancing & performed in the Red Deer college Nutcracker at the age of 12.
As an adult Alyssa tried her hand at ballroom dancing. Within 2 months she found herself competing in Las Vegas & placing top 3 in all her dances. 4 months later Alyssa placed 1st & overall champion for both her age divisions at the Calgary Dance Stampede.
And then..Alyssa found Sacred Circle & she felt like she found her home! Alyssa will always love learning any & every style of dance on the planet but something about Datura Style™ dancing sets the soul ablaze. From the regal Flemenco influenced postures & the intensity of technique, with the balance of fluidity & off set of isolations, the playing of cymbals & the musicality that goes along with it. It encompasses so many of Alyssa's favorite elements of dance, music & a sense of sacred grounding that she immediately she fell in love with it. It was the style of dance Alyssa had been longing for but didn't realise the circle of women she met along the way would be such a blessing.
'The 6 of us share a very special bond & dedication to our craft. These women are my safe space, my dance family & I look forward to the magic we continue to make together.'

Datura Allure member feature, meet our lovely Mel who is the lady behind the camera of our beautiful headshots 🌺

Mel discovered belly dance 4 years ago thanks to her amazing teacher, friend and owner of Sacred Circle Belly Dance, Crystal Weran.

Mel has loved music and dancing since she was a kid. While not having much opportunity to dance growing up, it was something she always wanted to do. After taking a few different classes from fusion to ATS, she quickly fell in love with Datura Style the most.

“The amount of confidence and love for my body I’ve gained since beginning my dance journey has been immeasurable. You’re in a completely different world when you're dancing with a group of incredible women, nothing else matters but that moment. Belly dance has eased my soul.
Everyone should try it. 10/10, would recommend.”

Fabulous troupe day! We tackled a few things today, one of which was the headpieces for our upcoming performance 💜
