MagnaQuest

MagnaQuest Discover this new video game MagnaQuest based on gamification rules dedicated to young violinists to practice their instrument by doing improvisation.

Learning a musical instrument has many difficulties that often demotivate the young musician. Many students who begin learning an instrument drop out during the first year, even before playing a musical work with confidence (McPherson & Davidson, 2006; Sloboda & Howe, 1991). This project aims to develop, experiment and validate an immersive innovative system that will provide young violinists who

begin learning a musical instrument an alternative way of looking at their instrumental practice. Focused on online musical improvisations, the video game created will motivate students to do their regular musical rehearsal in a voluntary and stimulating way, and to reduce the high dropout rate observed in younger students who begin learning a musical instrument. The originality of this game is to allow children to use their violin as a joystick with which they evolve in various scenes, and to practice using playful activities based on procedures of gamification.
