As the Tour of Fair Do’s and Have No Heroes ended last week, I just want to take a moment to say a massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this tour happen.
To all the promoters who took a chance on us, booked us, promoted the shows, and put in so much work behind the scenes — thank you. We know how much goes into putting on a show, and we’re incredibly grateful for every one of you. (David at CG Productions, Gary at Gary From Barrie Promotions , Dennis in Hamilton, Steven Rawles at Merit-Based Booking for the DBS/MakeWar tour show and again, the teams behind Envol and M4C)
To all the venues and their crews, thank you for welcoming us in, looking after us, and giving us a place to make some noise. Every room, big or small, means the world to us. (Minotaure, Foufounes Electriques, The Atria, Monarch Tavern, CW Coop's - Downtown Barrie, Kyle at The Holy Diver, The Carlton Tavern, Overtime Sport Bar, JM & Peter at La Source de la Martinière in Quebec City, Sabrina at Bar-Spectacle Le Montecristo in Ste-Thérèse and Kat&Chloé at Le Nord-Ouest for taking care of the big show of DBS in Trois-Rivières)
To the bands we shared stages with and all of your crews — thank you for the good times, the laughs, the help, and for making every night feel like more than just another show. It’s a privilege to share stages with such great people. (Speedbump Sally, Kill Static, 2Fast4u punk, Church Fight, Tuned Out, The Fast Life, Erg’s (Ryan Elzner), Shootin' Blanx, Phoenix Down, OH THE HUMANITY, MakeWar, For I Am, Death By Stereo and all the great bands playing the festivals.
One thing this tour has really reminded me of, is how important the effort from everyone involved is. Promoters, venues and bands all have a part to play in making a show work. It doesn’t always take a huge amount — simply adding the event to your pages, posting about the show, even if it’s only once, putting up a physical poster in or around your venue or neighbourhood, talking about it with your regulars, or encouraging people to come out can make a real difference. Those small things add up. They can genuinely be the difference between having a quiet night and having a successful one. If we want our venues, promoters, bands and our whole scene to grow, we all have a part to play, and sometimes just a little extra effort can go a very long way.
And to every sound engineer / soundman who stood behind that desk and made the bands sound better, thank you! We appreciate everything you do, often quietly and behind the scenes, to make the whole thing come together.
To all the media, photographers, writers, bloggers, radio interviewers, and everyone who helped spread the word about the tour — thank you. Thank you for taking the time to come to the shows, interview us, take photos, write about us, share our music, post about the gigs, and help get our name out there. Every article, review, photo, interview, post, and share makes a difference, and we genuinely appreciate the support. You help connect bands with people who might never have discovered us otherwise, and we’re incredibly grateful for that. (Charles B-Hamel & Le Bad Crew, At the Scene Photography, Mélodie Martel for organizing the interview at M4C with Lindsay, The Rockman Power Hour, Moshpit Punk Show, Chroniques Backstage, Du bruit à mes oreilles and Punk Rock Radio.ca.
Most importantly, and never can be said enough, thank you to everyone who came out, bought a ticket, sang along, danced, shouted, bought merch, or simply stood there and listened. You are the reason we get to do this.
Tours are built on a lot more than the people on stage. They’re built on a whole community of people working together, and we’ve been reminded of that every step of the way. We’ve made memories, met some amazing people and shared some very special nights.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you to every single person who played a part and gave everything he could to make it a success.
Until the next one. ❤️
