Albert Einstein is often remembered more as a humanitarian than a scientist — helping establish the International Rescue Committee, supporting the civil rights movement and speaking out against war. It's one of the reasons Time Magazine named Einstein its "Person of the Century."

It's August 16. Let me introduce you to a man who introduced to her future partner & colleague . In his laboratory, he supported Marie in her research where, Pierre was his collaborator in piezoelectricity. The couple would turn out to be one of the most Nobel Prize awarded families ever. This is not the end of the story of that man. A large number of modern technologies such as laser holography and others have their roots in his findings. That man is our "scientist of the day" today.

It's the birthday of , the man who produced the first permanent color photographs - -

Lippmann's papers on electricity, optics, thermodynamics and photochemistry are considered very valuable for future evolutions. Many of his ideas and theories have led to the improvement of devices used in physics. The extremely sensitive device known as the capillary electrometer found its use in an important medical instrument like the ECG machine.

Of all the theories and processes that he contributed to the study of physics, the capture of colored images of objects was the greatest, for which he became very famous throughout the scientific world. During the 19th century methods were developed for producing black-and-white photographs with the help of light-sensitive silver halides. In the 1890s Lippmann discovered a method for color photography based on interference - interaction between light waves. For this discovery, he won the in Physics 1908.

He invented the coelostat, which accounted for Earth’s rotation so that astronomers could take sharp long-exposure photos of the sky using a stationary telescope. Lippmann also proposed and demonstrated integral imaging, in which a two-dimensional array of tiny lenses creates a image.
