20th ANNUAL PUGWASH HARBOURFEST
It's a Shore Thing! August 7-9th, 2026 The long term goal is to develop a full service marina facility in Pugwash Harbour.

Pugwash HarbourFest is a 3-day annual festival held at Pugwash, Nova Scotia that includes water & land events, live entertainment, contests, and recreational activities for all ages. Entry to the festival grounds is free. Some events and activities charge admission or an entry fee. Pugwash HarbourFest enjoys the support of several key corporate sponsors, area businesses, and private contributors. Government grants been awarded for project management, marketing and promotions, and small capital projects (building of docks). Vendor fees and community group event contributions make up a small portion of the total revenue. Proceeds are used to cover event expenses such as insurance, security, sanitary facilities, equipment rental, entertainment, advertising and printing costs and coordination fees. This ensures a clean, safe and well-attended festival for patrons and sponsors. The remaining proceeds are used to fund future events and to enhance our land and water facilities. These include our floating docks and moorings at Dinghy Beach. HarbourFest is proud to say these docks will be available for use by the public from June to September this year! The entire community benefits from Pugwash HarbourFest! Average festival attendance has been approximately 12,000 over the 3 day period, with a record attendance of 25,000 in 2009, and 2012 when the Tall Ships visited. Under the Pugwash HarbourFest banner, community groups provide wonderful festival activities and raise much needed funds for their individual organizations. Reports from our business community indicate that the Saturday during HarbourFest is one of their best business days of the year! Join us for fun in the sun, sea and sand. HarbourFest – simply the best!

A great way to deal with your carved pumpkins on November 1st and get a free cup of hot chocolate while you admire them. Last year was wonderful, with over 50 pumpkins. Let's see if we can get more this year.

🌊💙 HARBOURFEST IS MORE THAN A FESTIVAL — IT’S COMMUNITY! 💙🌊

One of the things we’re most proud of is being able to use Harbourfest to support the organizations and community groups that work hard all year to make Pugwash a better place.

❤️ Pugwash Legion Peace Branch 60 – through the Harbourfest B**r Garden, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Legion.

🐾 Marilyn & Friends Feral Spay & Neuter Program – through the Sinkers Conference, helping support their work in our community.

🚒 Pugwash Fire Department – through Harbourfest Presents, where we passed the boot to support our volunteer firefighters.

🥾 Cumberland Trails Association – who help manage road control during Harbourfest events, and whom we’re proud to support with a donation in appreciation of their work.

🏥 North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary – through the Crockery Smash event, raising funds for our local hospital.

🌺 Pugwash Communities in Bloom – who have coordinated Tie a Knot for Peace at Harbourfest for years, bringing a beautiful message of peace to the festival.

🌿 Friends of the Pugwash Estuary – who are always onsite at Harbourfest raising awareness about the estuary and connecting with people and potential members.

🎣 A Day in the Life of a Fisherman – an event we’re proud to contribute to and support, celebrating our lobster fishing heritage and community.

🎄 Annual Pugwash Christmas Dinner – another important community tradition that Harbourfest is proud to be a part of.

Harbourfest is about more than one weekend in August. It’s about creating opportunities for local organizations to fundraise, promote their causes, build membership and connect with the community.

We’re grateful to be able to give back—and even more grateful to the volunteers and organizations who give so much to Pugwash all year long. ❤️
