Deep Roots Music Festival was founded and organized by the Heavy Mellow Movement (HMM) crew in Kamloops, BC. HMM is a collective of bass music artists and visual designers united by a passion for deep, experimental, melodic bass music and sound system culture. Following the pandemic, the team found themselves craving connection, creativity, and the festival lifestyle - and with that, the Heavy Mel

low Hideout was born. The following year, Deep Roots emerged as a more official gathering, rooted in bass music, inclusion, and community. Now entering our fifth year, Deep Roots focuses on bringing performers, artists, and creators together in a safe, collaborative, and intentionally curated environment. The culture and community formed through this scene are at the heart of everything we do. Deep Roots Music Festival 2026 takes place at MEADOWS OF CEL7WET FESTIVAL GROUNDS in Pritchard, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of Secwépemc Nation within Secwépemc'ulucw, from May 29th to June 1st, 2026. Performance art is an essential layer of the festival ecosystem—where movement gives form to sound and environments become immersive, living worlds. Through disciplines like circus, dance, aerial, and flow arts, artists activate space, deepen atmosphere, and translate energy into embodied experience. At the core of our programming is a commitment to diversity, creative autonomy, and community care. We intentionally curate a dynamic mix of regional talent, emerging voices, and seasoned performers. Each offering is selected with care, ensuring it resonates with the music, the setting, and the shared journey of those gathered.

As we reflect on another incredible year of Deep Roots, we want to take a moment to recognize the people and businesses who went above and beyond to support our community.

First and foremost, we want to acknowledge and thank the Cel7wet community and the beautiful land that hosts Deep Roots each year. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to gather, celebrate music, art, and community in such a special place. The mountains, river, and open skies create the magic that makes Deep Roots what it is, and we are committed to treating this land with the respect and care it deserves.

A huge thank you to Pizza_ Now_Kamloops for generously feeding our pre-show volunteer crew. Our volunteers put in countless hours behind the scenes to make Deep Roots possible, and having a warm meal while preparing the site meant so much to the team.

We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Bright Eye Brewing for helping supply a keg for the artists. Community support from local businesses plays a huge role in making grassroots events like ours possible.

To every attendee who chose to add a donation when purchasing their ticket - thank you. These contributions may seem small individually, but together they help us create a safer and more sustainable festival experience for everyone. Your generosity supports the growth of this movement and allows us to continue building something special.

Are you ready to relive the magic of the sunrise set?? We sure are 🎧

Leo has been a staple of Deep Roots Music Festival since the early days and we were thrilled to have him shut down the dance floor for us on Saturday morning. His chilled and lush set brought wholesome vibes to wrap up day 1. Leo is the epitome of “there’s heavy mellow in every genre”, sound design driven his sets tell a story that we’re proud to share.

Well... our merch had one last lesson in patience for us. 🌱

After months of planning, our brand new Deep Rooted Tee’s decided to take the scenic route and arrived the Monday after the festival wrapped up.

While we wish we could have shared these pieces with you on-site, we’re excited that they’re finally here. Every purchase helps support the people, artists, and dreamers who worked tirelessly to bring Deep Roots to life and helps us continue growing for years to come.
