Deep Roots Music Festival was founded and organized by the Heavy Mellow Movement (HMM) crew in Kamloops, BC. HMM is a collective of bass music artists and visual designers united by a passion for deep, experimental, melodic bass music and sound system culture. Following the pandemic, the team found themselves craving connection, creativity, and the festival lifestyle - and with that, the Heavy Mel

low Hideout was born. The following year, Deep Roots emerged as a more official gathering, rooted in bass music, inclusion, and community. Now entering our fifth year, Deep Roots focuses on bringing performers, artists, and creators together in a safe, collaborative, and intentionally curated environment. The culture and community formed through this scene are at the heart of everything we do. Deep Roots Music Festival 2026 takes place at MEADOWS OF CEL7WET FESTIVAL GROUNDS in Pritchard, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of Secwépemc Nation within Secwépemc'ulucw, from May 29th to June 1st, 2026. Performance art is an essential layer of the festival ecosystem—where movement gives form to sound and environments become immersive, living worlds. Through disciplines like circus, dance, aerial, and flow arts, artists activate space, deepen atmosphere, and translate energy into embodied experience. At the core of our programming is a commitment to diversity, creative autonomy, and community care. We intentionally curate a dynamic mix of regional talent, emerging voices, and seasoned performers. Each offering is selected with care, ensuring it resonates with the music, the setting, and the shared journey of those gathered.

Von D - Leading the Movement

With 3 albums in the stores, 9 tours in the USA, dates throughout Europe , Asia, New Zealand and Australia, Von D is one of the few French producers to have made a real name for himself on the international bassmusic scene as a dubstep producer. Deep Medi / Artikal / Dubs Galore are among the labels that have supported his music over the years.

It’s already been sixteen years that Von D has been officiating as a producer and DJ. With multiple releases to come, an undeniable Dj set experience and a bin of dubplate loaded to the brim, it seems that he is poised to continue to weigh in on the dubstep scene and soundsystem sessions in the years to come!

Von D steps into the movement with the depth of a veteran and the fire of someone still hungry to shape what comes next. His sound has travelled the world, and we can’t wait to share the Deep Roots stage with him this year.

Leo Zen - Leading the Movement 🌲💙

Born and raised in Japan, Leo Zen developed at a young age an intense passion for all things Bass. Originally immersing himself in the production side of music, he quickly discovered a knack for creating solid, grungy, hard basslines, incorporating deep melodic undertones that purveyed a sense of subtle urgency and emotion. Seeking to expand his knowledge and co-create with his peers Leo made the decision to move to one of the bass capitals of the world, British Columbia, Canada. Upon arrival, Leo quickly carved out a reputation for delivering extremely high energy sets; consisting of original production, diverse mixing, captivating stage presence, and an uncanny timing that has annihilated dance floors from Canada to Costa Rica, and all over Europe. With releases on Really Good Recordings, Druid Recordings, and Aufect Recordings, he has solidified himself as one of the premier Drum n’ Bass producer/DJ’s in Western Canada. Always learning and growing Leo continues to use music as his tool to express his experiences, proving there are no boundaries, with the goal to elevate minds through sound.

Leo Zen returns to Deep Roots with a sound that hits hard and carries the kind of energy that transforms a dance floor. This is one set you won’t want to miss. See you at the bins!

Before you roll into the festival grounds, make sure you’re all set: all traffic must arrive via the Pritchard bridge — once you’re across, please watch your speed and follow signage to the grounds.

Have your 2 pieces of ID and tickets ready at the gate so entry stays quick for everyone.

Free parking is available near the front gate. If you want to camp with your vehicle, car camping and RV passes are available in advance through the link in our bio.
