My day started off very early! Cassie flew home today! She was driving me crazy, so I sent her home!! Just kidding. it was decided and booked the very first night of the trip that she wanted to do that. She was dropped off at the St. John's airport at 5:30 this morning. Of course her flight was delayed, but she has made it home!

I actually had a store delivery to make! Well Sarina met me at my hotel! A few months ago a lady contacted the store from Newfoundland and asked about doing an order, where she added things and would get it shipped when she was ready. Guess what I brought with me. Talk about personal delivery. ohh I wish I could do it all the time.

We drove by the docks and found a US warship Whicita! It was huge. Interesting to see the extra security that was set up around it too.
Me, nathan and McKenna went to Cape Spear lighthouse. The most Eastern point in mainland North America! It did not disappoint! Ohhh, the views!
Then we went to Signal Hill, once again...amazing.
Since we've been as far East as we can go, its time to head home. So we have made it to Grand falls Windsor. Tomorrow we head the rest of the way to catch the ferry at a god awful time. 2:45 am.
I am sad to leave Newfoundland. The rocks and hills and ocean and trees.
I said Saint John's is Hillbilly Vancouver ( i really do mean it in a good way. You get waterfront vibes, but not all the traffic. And the people are way more laidback)

Trivia for Nancy Wood do you know who team Gushue is? There is a highway in St Johns named Team Gushue!

So we leave for Newfoundland tomorrow. Weve had a fun few days in Nova Scotia. I reccommend booking a place to stay as early as you can...we ended up in a cabin in the woods..lol. it was a great cabin...we all got our own beds! It was just far away from the activities we did.
I absolutely love Peggys Cove and Lunenburg. The landscape speaks for itself.
We also checked out Carters beach. The 'Canadian Carribean' according to the internet. White sands and turquoise water. The water is cold though.
Today on the way back up to our hotel in Cape Breton we did the Harbour Hopper Halifax tour. It is an old military amphibious vehicle. We drive around for part of the tour and then basically drive right into the Harbour and boat around there. If you come to Halifax, definitely do that. The driver and guide are full of information and stories.

Its been a fun few days in PEI. I love the red sand beaches, and was a bit sad to leave. The sand is just softer. Im a city girl, buy I do prefer the other parts of the island more then Charlottetown. It does have its charms though.

We did Cavendish beach yesterday. Which has an amazing boardwalk and walk around sand dunes. Stopped at the lobster shack. Great service, so-so food. Tried a lobster roll, was not that impressed. Earlier the day had the best fish in chips, with homemade tartar sauce in my life. And it came from a food truck parked on the side of the highway.

Today we went to Panmure island beach and lighthouse. The oldest wooden lighthouse left in canada..or tallest I cant remember..it is 1050 PM here. Its really cool you can go in and go up. We saw some wildlife...a fox and last night 3 raccoons were having a meeting in the middle of the highway..they scattered everywhich way. I guess there is no larger animals on the island.

We decided to take the ferry from wood islands to Nova Scotia....so Hello Nova Scotia. Don't forget to go bisit Anna this week...she's lonely!!

Getting out of Montreal was horrible! Took almost 2 hours. Felt like I was playing football. Yeah! We moved forward 2 feet. Then tried another way on the other side of the city and hit the grid lock too. Lots of construction., although their road condition is horrible. I stopped at a cute antique store warehouse somewhere between Montreal and Quebec.
Then Cassie planned a fun little surprise and directed us to the waterfall in Quebec City. Apparently it is actually taller then Niagara Falls. We started off at the bottom of the falls in a nice little park, you can take a gondola up to the top, the line up was HUGE. Or walk up the mountain on these stair walkway, like what you see on TV shows. I determined that I would probably die if I attempted that. Then we realized you could actually drive and park at the top. At the top is a suspension bridge that goes accross the falls.
Then we headed out. I decided that we would stay in Edmunston, NB. Shortlyt accross the border, except it was around 11 o'clock at night and I didnt actually book a hotel, wasn't sure where I wanted to stop. (it get pitch black out by 9 PM.) So phoned a few places in Edmunston and cities around there. No luck...except 1 place had a room, but the reviews were "this place should be burned down" and there were bullet holes in the windows and dark stains all over. We decided to drive to Frederickton, about 2.5 hours away. I once again, dd not book the hotel in case we found another place to stay. (A bit of foreshadowing) get into Frederickton at 2:09 in the morning, after driving in the pitch black through Appalachian mountain roads ( NB has done an amazing job on that highway though) im sure the scenery would have been beautiful. I am hopeful, I get to actually see some on the way home. Then had trouble getting a room with 2 beds in frederickton, had to phone around a bit. I was thinking we may be sleeping in the car. Did end up with a lovely room, hig9hly reccomend Chateau Frederickton, if you ever around there.
Today we drove around Frederickton, and Oromocto. We tried to see the military base, all we could see was the front gate. We went to Moncton and did the magnetic hil..and checked out the market there.
And then to finish the day, we came to PEI. The bridge is amazing water as far as you can sea.
The red soil mixed with the lush green farmland. I said we were on the "Road to Avonlea" kids had no idea what i was talking about. We did check out Cabot Beach this evening. Will see where tomorrow takes us.

So its has been a busy few days for this wayward Traveller. We are now in Montreal. We have put over 5500 KM on the car.

We did the cruise into the mists of the falls, boy you get wet! The girls went horseback riding in port Colborne. We had a laundry day. Those machines were OLD but worked well.

Then we did the African Lion Safrai in Hamilton and 2 of the kids went to Canada's Wonderland. Stayed the night in Peterborough. Had the nicest hotel clerk ever.

This morning we went to Ottawa and went to the Canadian War Museum. Visited the parliament buildings via windshield tour. And then came to Montreal. Had another windshield tour. I love driving around cities at night. Montreal is huge and I may need to learn French, I dont always know what the road signs are telling me. LOL.

Here is a picture dump. I may double up some..sorry guys.

Correction, we'll be closed Saturday, August 22 not tomorrow.

Scrapbook Zone will be closed Saturday, August 22, as I'll be attending the funeral of my son's friend, who became much more than a friend to our family. He became part of our family.

Tomorrow is a day for being with the people we love, remembering a young life that meant so much to us, and supporting my son and our family as we say goodbye.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for giving me the space to be where I need to be tomorrow.

He loved going for walks through parks and sitting on benches. Here is a picture of Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park, one of the parks he would frequently visit.

We'll be back to regular hours on Tuesday, August 24, 2026. Thank you, as always, for supporting my small business and for being such a wonderful community.

So we made it Niagara Falls!! This place is like Canada Las Vegas. It is midnight here...and you can shop, eat, play mini golf. Go on the Skytram. I bet its seeable from space.

Our hotel is amazing. The Hilton with falls view out your windows, 28th floor. You can see both Canadian side and American side.

We finally sort of got a picture of my night dancers.

Toronto and all the other places is HUGE! We just went on the outskirts, but the traffic....

It has been a long driving day today. Did over 1000 km today. We have made it to Sault Ste Marie. Me and Nathan got birthday cheesecake from the Swiss Chalet in Thunder Bay, before heading back out on the road.

It is a beautiful drive. In Saskatchewan, my daughter pointed out that it is strange to not see mountains in the horizon...the land ends and the sky begins.
Winnipeg has a great museum and beautiful old stone building and architecture.

Ontario has amazing scenery..we've seen the roxks, cliffs and trees again of the Canadian shield We are now down in Sault Ste Marie and Lake Superior. At one point we could smell salt water.

I saw a road sign that has a jumping deer on it and under its says 'night dancer' I thought that wqs aontqrio playing with words and being funny as well as making you think about wildlife at night, next time I saw the sign, it actually says 'night danger' oops....i like my version better.
