Maker Monday: Charlene the wannabe woodworker.
Three January's ago at a brewery over a pint, our best buds said to us, "why don't you sell your stuff?"
Hmmm...why don't we??
Once hubby's hobby became all that I wanted to do, and I was learning new things whenever we were in the shop together, I couldn't stop from thinking of what it would be like to have our pieces in other people's homes.
I thought - I don't know enough, I'm not prepared enough, I don't have all of the right equipment and know-how, and I will make too many mistakes.
And you know what? I didn't know it all, I wasn't prepared enough, and I made ALL of the mistakes.
But the passion and vision for turning old, weathered hardwoods from my beautiful province into unique gifts and housewares, overtook the trepidation of starting.
Sometimes, as beginning entrepreneurs, we have this assumption that our product or service must exceed this imaginary level of excellence in order to have a perfectly executed plan.
The stars do not (nor will they ever) have to perfectly align for you to do the thing - just START. From wherever you are, with whatever you've got.
As I sit here this morning and package products bound for Germany, Hawaii, New Jersey, Michigan, Montana, Texas, and all over our own beautiful country and province, I am hit with the power and weight of that first small step.
DO the thing. Ask the questions. Send the email. Take a step. Put that little piece of you out into the universe ❤️
