Hi folks!

While we're installing our current exhibition, transient maternal: fathoms, by Daze Jefferies and B.G Osborne, we have to reschedule our opening that was set to take place on Saturday, August 29th from 4-6 to be a closing reception in November!

The gallery will be open on Saturday, August 29th from 10-5pm and the new reception will be taking place on November 21, 2025 from 4-6pm where folks can meet Daze and Oz, ask questions, and celebrate with snacks and refreshments

A couple weeks ago, Nature NL hosted a lovely hike through the Murphy’s Cove trail to teach us about the wetlands here in Port Union!

Throughout the hike, folks collected plants and feathers that were used to make Lumen Prints! After the hike, our staff member Kenzie hosted a chill Lumen print workshop, teaching folks how to make art and document plants by placing them on light-sensitive paper and exposing them to the sun.

We had a lovely day learning about our wetlands, and connecting art and nature! Thank you again to Alexis and Nature NL for this wonderful opportunity!

🌼GARDEN GATHERING 2026🌼

Last week, we hosted our 4th Annual Garden Gathering!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to share the afternoon with us! Thank you especially to Night Things Tattoo Co. for dropping by for an awesome tattoo and piercing pop-up, to Karen Stentaford for getting the community together for a wonderful community photo, to Wicked Pizza for providing tasty pizza, to Natalie Zina Walschots and Craig Francis Power for a lovely reading and conversation about Natalie’s new book VILLIAN, and to Hannah Green, R Sheaves and to the ~one and only~ Terry Lodge for another fun afternoon of music!

Thank you again to Lawnya Vawnya, Riddle Fence and Canada Council of the Arts for their help supporting this event!

Thank you EVERYONE for always showing up and bringing such amazing energy to our space! These events wouldn’t be the same without a community that shows up so enthusiastically and it makes the hard work so worth it! The Garden Gathering has become a quick favourite for us and we can’t wait to see what we can do with it next year!

UHA will be closed until August 29th as we prepare for our new and exciting exhibition! ♥️✨

On September 19th, join contemporary artist and educator Mackenzie Browning for an afternoon of book arts, creativity, and conversation. Participants will learn how to create an accordion journal using pre cut materials, custom printed papers, and acid free journal pages suitable for drawing, writing, note taking, and creative brainstorming.

Along the way, Mackenzie will share artist book techniques, practical tips for sustainable creative practices, and insights into building a long term arts career. Drawing from his experience as an exhibiting artist, he will discuss how artist books can find homes in public and institutional collections. His artist books are held in a number of university collections, including Baylor University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Colorado Denver, among others.

This relaxed and welcoming workshop combines hands on making, discussion, music, and community. Whether you use your journal for sketching, reflection, planning, or creative exploration, you’ll leave with a finished accordion journal and new ideas for incorporating book arts into your own practice. No previous experience is required.

$50 per person. 12 slots available. Registration is required. You can register for this workshop by visiting www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/fold-flow-create-accordion-journal-workshop-with-mackenzie-browning
