Art Heist in Port Perry!

Well, it seems The Latcham Centre has joined the ranks of the Louvre this weekend! During the Port Perry Artists’ Association’s “Life by the Lake” show and sale at the Latcham Centre, one piece of art decided to go home with an admirer — without stopping by the checkout first.

The missing masterpiece? A beautiful painting by the talented and much-admired young local artist Marie Moore, last seen on Sunday, October 19 (the painting, not Marie).

While we did our best to keep things as secure as the crown jewels, sometimes even the most charming small-town shows experience a little... creative enthusiasm. 😉

If you happen to have taken this piece home by mistake (perhaps caught up in the excitement?), we’d love to help you make things right — no questions asked! You can simply:

Work in Progress!
Usually I leave the eyes until I’ve framed the face and lighting. But this is a cat so of course the eyes had to come first. Because, cat. Who knows what’s next…

*sneak peek* A seldom seen view - me, working on one of my current projects. This is the largest canvas I’ve put on the easel (to date) and it is proving to be really fun. For me, it’s about the details. Stay tuned for more as the painting evolves.

“June Bug” 2023, acrylic on canvas 16x20. This project took way longer than anticipated because I got sidetracked by the background of water, trees and sky. I decided to abstract them out and focus on the dog and was much happier with the result!
