FALL FAIR 2026

PORT HARDY

September 12 and 13/26

“Celebrating the North Island Birthdays”

It’s time to get that garden in shape and start working on your exhibit entries!

Exhibit lists and booth rental forms are available starting Monday, July 20, 2026 at the following locations:

Port McNeill: Tourist Information Centre; Library; Ministry of Forests/Service BC lobby
Port Hardy: Tourist Information Centre; Library; Hobby Nook
Port Alice: Library
Or from our Facebook: mount waddington regional fall fair

We hope that school children have remembered to save their projects from the past year to enter in the fair. Everyone is eligible to win ribbons and cash prizes for their arts and crafts, garden entries, home canning and baking, etc. Don’t forget the popular Dog Show with forms available at the local pet stores or vets. We are again offering the young entrepreneurs booth for only $10.00.

Businesses and organizations can start planning their booths, and non-profit groups can start working on how to use a fair booth to raise funds (selling food, bake sales, games etc.) and/or recruit new members. Don’t forget – we can never have enough food booths, and this is an easy way to raise money – call us for ideas.

The committee is set, but more volunteers are always welcome! We have jobs for people who want to volunteer on the weekend of the fair: jobs range from the energetic to less active jobs like ticket tables and taking in exhibits. Please call Malcolm at 250-956-0452 for more information.

Volunteers are needed if you wish to have a fair this year!
We are actively looking for volunteers to create the theme or slogan for this year and form a committee to organize a variety of jobs. Unfortunately the Fleeton family will not be able to host this year’s fair. Jobs needing filling are that of a Chairperson with overall responsibility for all committees and decisions; Judging Coordinator to recruit judges for the Friday evening judging of the various categories and award ribbons and trophies; Raffle Coordinator to apply for the yearly license and round up a variety of prizes for the raffle and design and print tickets; Convening Coordinator to take in exhibits with a group of volunteers the Thursday evening before the fair and all day Friday up to 6:00 p.m.; Advertising Coordinator to update social media, create posters, as well as create ads and stories for the local paper; Entertainment Coordinator to recruit local performers to provide entertainment on the Saturday and Sunday as well as provide technical support and MC; Volunteer Coordinator to find volunteers to help with the convening as well as selling raffle tickets at the fair and taking admission money at the door; Decorating Coordinator to design a display based on the theme for the front door entrance; Vendor Coordinator to recruit local home businesses, nonprofits, food vendors as well as commercial or semi commercial displays through registration forms available in town and on the page or in an email blast; and finally a Support Coordinator for the setup and takedown of the fair with the coordination with the Port Hardy Junior Canadian Rangers. Support and copies of pervious documents will be made available to volunteers as well as the book keeping support to ensure the fair is profitable and runs smoothly. The fair run on very tight budget and often loses money each year. Please indicate your willingness to volunteer by Friday, July 10, 2026 or the fair will be cancelled for this year! A full committee is needed to make this happen! An organizational meeting will be held the following week if we have enough volunteers.

You can send replies to Malcolm Fleeton at [email protected], phoning 250-956-0452, or texting to 250-949-0677. It takes a team to make this wonderful event happen each year!

Family day long weekend is a perfect time to try your hand at a new craft or art form
Perhaps you’d like to paint a rock for the garden? Or try your hand at carving some wood?
Maybe you and the kids would like to try embroidery. Trying something new together is a great way to bond.
