Last but certainly not least, I have the pleasure of introducing our Stage Director for the production of Annie!!! PCOS Life Member Melissa Heil! Melissa has been a proud member of Port Colborne Operatic Society for more than a decade. Over that time, Melissa has worn many hats with the society. She started as an ensemble member, where she shared her vocal range from Bass to Soprano in many shows including as Mrs. Bedwin in Oliver, as a Pick-a-Little Lady in Music Man and as an apple-slinging tree in the Wizard of Oz. Always one to take on a challenge, Melissa joined the Board of PCOS, first as Second Vice President, where she helped to design the yearly program and then as President, a position she held for several years. Last year, Melissa served as the Stage Manager for PCOS’s production of Legally Blonde, a position she feels helped her to take on this year’s role as Stage Director for Annie!

Melissa believes the true strength of Port Colborne Operatic Society is in the word Society. PCOS produces Broadway quality shows but, at heart, we are a community group that gives everyone the chance to shine at the theatre! Melissa has had the opportunity to share the stage with her husband, Scott, her four children, Zachary, Parker, Jacob and Cassidy (one of whom met his wife (Morgan) on stage) and even two of her dogs!

Melissa is excited to serve as Stage Director, especially since the last production of Annie was the show that inspired her to take to the stage. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of the inspiring directors who guided her in past productions and it is her greatest hope that everyone who is a part of this production of Annie will feel that sense of belonging and community that is so integral to Port Colborne Operatic Society.

We are proud to welcome and announce our choreographer for Annie Emily Wideman
Emily is excited to be joining the PCOS family for the first time this season! Growing up as a dancer in Midland Ontario, Emily quickly fell in love with the stage. She danced on a competition team from the age of 10 and began teaching and assistant teaching at the age of 12. Emily discovered a passion for teaching kids not just to dance but to have confidence that radiates into their entire life. From the ages of 10-16 Emily performed with Drayton Entertainment at the Kings Wharf Theatre in 6 different productions, (including Annie!) and developed a great love for Musical Theatre.

Emily now works full time at Trinitylife Church in Sherkston as the Family and Youth Pastor, where she shares the love of Jesus to children and teens, and looks forward to directing the annual kids Christmas production. Emily also started a Christian dance program in 2025, Purpose Dance Academy, for kids ages 4-16. Revisiting Annie as a choreographer is a dream come true! Emily is excited to bring her gifts to the amazing creative team, and to give all actors the confidence to dance. Emily would like to thank her husband Carter, her parents, and her own dance teacher, Miss Jordyn for all their support!

Performance Credits include:
Wizard of Oz, Annie, Oliver, Peter Pan: the Panto, Snow White: the Panto, Aladdin: the Panto (Drayton Entertainment)
