This Season’s Festivities which the Choir is preparing to share with us will be an unforgettable experience for all – ushering in a very Merry Christmas, 2022!

Lessons and Carols is a newly composed work, based on the format of the traditional service held each Christmas Eve in the Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge, England, Lessons and Carols is a newly composed work. It incorporates seventeen carols within its eight scriptural lessons, with the audience participating in more than half of them. Where the composer melds different carols together, we can look forward to enjoying imaginative new musical textures, particularly when infused with the audience providing melodic support! The ultimate result is a compelling new service in a time-honoured format, featuring the unique compositional talents of one of Britain’s best-known living composers.

Command Performance Choir will be performing this work live for two evenings, the week before Christmas, in Picton at St. Andrew’s Church on King St. The audience will get to enjoy participating in well-known Carols on half of the pieces, while the Choir sings the variations Willcocks has beautifully
arranged to play alongside and against the original, well-known traditional songs. The arrangements create a crescendo of marvelous sounds, which must be heard live and in person – they are indescribable. Willcocks is a master of his craft. It is a pure delight to have an entire evening dedicated to his work.
