At Melt Studio & Gallery, we don't charge admission to enjoy the wonderful exhibitions that change monthly. But every now and then, visitors who have especially enjoyed their experience find their own unique way to say thank you.
Recently, a visitor surprised me with a sweet box of local strawberries from Van Grootheest Farm in Bloomfield. 🍓

I couldn't resist enjoying a few while admiring Grace Dam's painting 'You Are the Sweetest', currently on display in the Focus Gallery.

If you're looking for something inspiring to do today, drop by and explore our current exhibitions. We're open from noon to 5 pm and would love to see you.

Open today noon-5pm.

RAVEL Opens Saturday, June 13!

Join us for the opening of RAVEL, our inaugural juried textile exhibition, celebrating the creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation of contemporary textile artists.
This special exhibition will open simultaneously at two locations:

📍 Gather in the County (The Bluebird Room at the Crystal Palace)
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

📍 Melt Studio & Gallery at Base31
12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Featuring a diverse collection of juried works, RAVEL explores the rich traditions and exciting possibilities of textile-based art. From weaving and fibre art to embroidery, mixed media, and contemporary interpretations of textile practice, this exhibition highlights the remarkable talent of artists working in this dynamic medium.

We invite you to visit either location—or both—to experience this exciting inaugural exhibition and meet some of the artists whose work is featured.

We look forward to celebrating the opening of RAVEL with you!

Just a reminder that this is the final weekend of RENEWAL!

Before we wrap up this wonderful exhibition, we'd like to shine a spotlight on a very special young artist, Ida, whose artwork is currently on display.

Ida's piece was selected from a juried children's art contest organized by our neighbours at Wildings Play Café also in Barrack 3 at Base31. I was honoured to be invited to judge the exhibition and select one artwork to be featured at Melt Studio & Gallery during RENEWAL.

You really need to see this sweet little piece in person—it is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

Encouraging children to explore creativity and the arts has always been important to me, and it was a pleasure to support this initiative. A heartfelt thank you to Wildings Play Café for including me in such a meaningful way.

And if you haven't checked out Wildings with your kids yet, you're missing out. It's a wonderful space for families, full of creativity and imagination—and they make a great cup of coffee too! They are just down the hallway from Melt Gallery!

Drop by this weekend and take in the final days of RENEWAL—including Ida's delightful contribution.

How an artist interprets the world can be so different across so many mediums. Whether it’s delicate watercolours, detailed photography, or abstract works each piece reflects an individual vision and creative voice. Every artist brings their own perspective, emotions, and experiences to their work, making the RENEWAL exhibition both inspiring and deeply personal. Catch these pieces in person during the final week of the show ending Sunday, June 7, at the Melt Studio and Gallery.

Sometimes, part of looking forward is taking time to look back.

These two pieces in our current exhibition RENEWAL, on view until June 7th, do just that. Both draw upon cherished childhood memories, from the classic sweet treats we looked forward to as kids to beloved television characters such as Casey and Finnegan from the classic Canadian children's show Mr. Dressup.

Through nostalgia, these works invite us to reconnect with moments of wonder, comfort, and imagination that helped shape who we are today. While RENEWAL is about growth and moving forward, it also reminds us that our past experiences remain an important part of our journey.

Experience these and many other thoughtful interpretations of renewal at Melt Studio & Gallery before the exhibition closes on June 7th.

Looking at the world through the eyes of an artist is interesting, to say the least. The way they interpret the natural world around them, notice texture and movement, or celebrate the things that are important to their culture can emerge in so many imaginative and inspiring ways. Artists have a unique ability to transform everyday moments, landscapes, memories, and traditions into something deeply expressive — inviting us to slow down, look closer, and see the world from a new perspective.
