🐠 Celebrate the end of the 2026 season with us at the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium! 🐠

Come enjoy all your favourite aquarium experiences, including our exhibit tanks, touch tanks, virtual reality, and science lab, plus an afternoon of special event programs, crafts, snacks, temporary tattoos, and more🐚🔬🎨

🪣 And don’t forget your bucket! We’ll be celebrating with a special animal release, where you get the chance to help some of our aquarium animals make their way back to the ocean! Animal release is weather dependent, so fingers crossed for a beautiful day 🌊💙

🌟 Creature Feature: Waved Whelk 🌟

Meet this week’s featured creature: the Waved Whelk (Buccinum undatum)! 🐚🌊 Easily recognized by its beautifully ridged, spiraled shell, this cold-water sea snail crawls along the seafloor of the North Atlantic in search of food!

🤯 Fun Fact: The Waved Whelk uses a specialized feeding organ called a radula (a tongue-like ribbon covered in tiny teeth) to scrape their food. It can even use this “toothed tongue” to feed on animal tissue and break down food on the seafloor (Encylopaedia Britannica).

Have you ever spotted one of these spiral shells washed up on the beach? 🌊🐌
