Musical Theatre for Homeschoolers! (ages 6-11)

Wednesdays 2:30-3:45pm
January 7th- June 10th
At Studio 505, 505 Sherbrooke St
Final Show: June 13th or 14th at Peterborough Theatre Guild (exact date and timing TBD)
Fee: $458 + HST ($517.54)

This program will involve acting exercises with a focus on physical theatre, characterization, vocal training, and improvisation, singing in ensemble (and optional solos), and dancing (musical theatre and jazz styles). We will be creating an original 20-minute musical to perform for friends and family at the Peterborough Theatre Guild in June. So much fun!

Calling all aspiring young dancers!

We have one spot available in next week’s Ballet Camp for ages 4-7 (all genders welcome!) with former-pro ballerina Dreda Blow (pictured below). Camp includes ballet basics, creative dance, drama, art, park trips, dress up parties, puppets and a performance at the end of the week.

Showmakers KinderStars Program!!!

Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce KinderStars starting in September for ages 4-6!

This art-based program offers a fun, enriching environment where kids can stretch their imaginations and explore self-expression through music, dance, theatre, and storytelling.

Our wonderful team of teachers- theatre-artist Peyton leBarr, dance-artist Dreda Blow, and musician-composer Bruno Merz- have designed a curriculum to nurture children's confidence, creativity, communication, and emotional well-being, which includes:

- creative play, theatre games, and introductory acting exercises, including the collaborative creation of an original piece of theatre each term
- sing-songs circles, rhythm games
- creative movement, dance, and active games
- read-aloud storybooks and poetry, followed by arts-based activities to bring literature to life
- an exploration of musical genres, styles, and instruments
- drawing, painting, crafts, group art projects
- make-believe, dress-up parties, puppets and more!

This program will take place in the beautiful, welcoming Studio 505- a fully accessible building which includes wooden dance floors, big windows, an open space for movement, a cosy fireplace to sit beside for sing-songs and storytime, and a comfortable lobby area.

Class size will be small, with only 10-12 students and 2 staff at all times.

Fee is $42 per day, payable at the beginning of each term, or in monthly instalments.

We are organizing an OPEN HOUSE to see our learning space, meet our staff, and participate in some fun activities. To learn more, or to enrol your child, please contact Dreda at [email protected].

I’m running a free workshop at the library! Come and check it out!

Join dance-theatre artist Dreda Blow (co-founder and director of Showmakers PTBO) for this fun, dynamic drama workshop!

We will start with some games to get to know each other and warm up our bodies, then do some theatre exercises that get us thinking creatively about how to portray different characters and emotions and tell stories through movement and acting.

Dreda aims to create a safe, inclusive space where everyone can exercise their imagination and have lots of laughs along the way!
