We are pleased to announce our latest workshop collab! Workshop Instructor: Bastou Bacharach will serve as an introduction to Islamic geometric patterns. Participants will learn about the different families of patterns and draw a pattern for each, using the same methods craftsmen have been using across the Islamic world for centuries.

3 out of 4 of CCG were on a field trip today to see the work of artist Kaba Hawa.
Born in Burkina Faso, Kaba Hawa uses photographs, printed material, paint and found objects to evoke the landscape and culture of Africa. “My work embodies the beauty of the land, the colors of mud brick and indigo sky, the heat of the sun, the essence of the place in all its contrasts,” she says. “There is beauty in harshness; happiness in poverty; gracefulness manifested in a materially raw environment.”
Kaba and Joan were so gracious with their time inviting us into her home to not only view her art but to answer our many questions on process, intention and inspiration.
