Mary Ellen (Jane Harrison) is the heart of the diner’s daily rhythm: steady, observant, and deeply rooted in the small-town world of Pender Island. Until her husband Kyle messes up and then, the woman who usually wears sturdy shoes starts walking in a different direction. In HALFWAY THERE, we are reminded that love, friendship, and finding your way can happen at any time—no matter how lost you feel. Tickets ($25) available at Talisman and on the Solstice website https://solsticetheatresociety.org/.

Rita (Barb Pender) looks after her friends, but at the same time, she has a sharp tongue and a no-nonsense edge. If someone needs calling out, she’ll do it, though not always in the most graceful manner. In HALFWAY THERE, we are reminded that healing often comes from the most surprising places. Tickets ($25) available at Talisman and on the Solstice website https://solsticetheatresociety.org/.
