Learn the language of cinema using the device already in your pocket!

Join facilitator Kimberly Smith for Cinema Practice Techniques with Your Smart Phone, a fun and energetic two-day workshop that explores storytelling, visual language, and hands-on filmmaking through video improv, movie games, and collaborative exercises.

Perfect for ages 15+ and all experience levels, participants will create short films using only their smartphones while building confidence in creativity, communication, and teamwork. Completed projects will be screened on a professional-size movie screen, making this a unique opportunity to experience the full filmmaking process from idea to audience.

International Mother Earth Day (April 22)

Today we are celebrating International Mother Earth Day and the incredible landscape we call home. We are reflecting on our responsibility to care for the land, water, and each other, ensuring a healthy and sustainable future for all living things.

As part of this commitment, we are thrilled to introduce the Debris to Design project, an initiative aimed at transforming the narrative of shoreline pollution into a story of community-driven restoration.

This project is not just a cleanup; it's an opportunity to see our environment through a different lens. We will be working together to clear shoreline debris and repurpose that waste into creative, meaningful designs that celebrate the beauty of the Minas Basin. By turning "waste" into "art," we can deepen our connection to the land and inspire a culture of stewardship.

We are Hiring for Summer 2026!

Join Parrsboro Creative this season and be part of an exciting, community-driven arts experience! We’re looking to fill two summer positions:

- Event Coordinator (May 4 – June 26)
- Project Administration Officer (June 24 – August 19)

Both roles offer hands-on experience in event coordination, gallery operations, and working closely with artists and the public during the season.

Deadlines:
- Event Coordinator – April 24
- Project Administration Officer – June 12
