The MAC - McMillan Arts Centre

The MAC - McMillan Arts Centre The McMillan Arts Centre is a community arts centre serving the Oceanside area of Vancouver Island, The MAC started life as the McMillan School in 1913.

Mothers of WWI soldiers erected a cenotaph directly in front of the school building, which sits at the intersection of McMillan Street and Memorial Avenue. Trees were planted along Memorial Avenue up to the frontage of the school building and remain to this day a beautiful boulevard leading to the Arts Centre. The school closed in 1976 and the Oceanside Community Arts Council took ownership in 198

6, continuing the tradition of education and arts through the School for Creative Arts. Galleries, gift shop and studios celebrate and support local artists work. The Makerspace organization and the Metal Arts Guild share the lower level of the MAC.

Thank you to our cheerful volunteers who came together to bake buttery strawberry scones for tomorrow’s Strawberry Social.

We could have just gone with store-bought spongecake cups for way less effort, but don’t we all deserve better? From our food, our lives, and everything?

Oh boy, wait til you see what's coming for SUMMER 2026 at the MAC! In addition to Creative Kids summer art camps, Plein Air painting in wonderful locations throughout Oceanside, our incredible Farmers Market at the MAC Community Garden, with new art workshops.... whew! We are so very excited to welcome JOAN LARSON, CLAUDIA LOHMANN AND THE AMAZING GRANT LEIER Barton & Leier Gallery ! It's going to be an epic summer! Bring your visitors, friends, family - take an art class, visit the galleries, it's all happening, here at the MAC!
