New Architecture programs are coming to the Oceanside and Nanaimo School districts in 2019! I will be teaching Architecture for Grades 7 and under. Some programs included this year are Indigenous Perspectives in Architecture, Design like Frank Gehry, Pattern Making with Architectural Facades and an encore to Treehouse Tower model making!

The last week of the program ended with a splash of creativity, spirit and pride in creating each treehouse. Some students decided to connect their treehouses to others with bridging for the ultimate collaboration.

Last week the students were introduced to different types of play spaces in a playground setting. Lots of reading spaces in this group!

Weaving Techniques were explored along with Harry Potter inspired artworks. Great job to all of the students and thanks to all of the parent support.

The Heartwood Learning students gathered natural materials from the playground site and made mobile installations and hung them in the central gathering area at the Errington Market.

I'm so excited to start my first day instructing 20 home-schooled youth in Errington! Thank you to the Heartwood parents for all of your support in letting me be a part of something really special. The kids are preparing to participate in the design of their own natural playground. Over the next 4 weeks, we will be exploring elements of site, materiality, social spaces and building miniature playhouse towers! The first class is inspired by my personal hero, Andy Goldsworthy. This legend takes the natural elements of the site and creates wonderful sculptures. Stay tuned to see what natural installation the kids come up with. Wish me luck!

2017 Graduating Class of the mini-Architect Program!! Thanks to everyone who came out last night. I'm so proud of each one of my students, they displayed a sense of confidence and pride for the presentation. Congratulations! What a fun night of Architecture, Art, Friends and Family.
