Tonight is the last FREE TRIAL night of the summer!! Come out and see what Contemporary Dance is all about!

Monday July 24th
4:30 JUNIOR (ages 7-9)
5:30 INTERMEDIATE (ages 9-12)
6:30 ADVANCED (ages 12+)

The Contemporary program works to develop physical skill, explore story-telling through movement, and learn different rhythms and musical co-ordinations through dance. While still built on a strong foundation of technique, these classes also focus on mind-body connection and the embodiment of emotion, as well as allowing dancers to explore improvisation and personal artistic expression.

After 26 years of owning and operating my own dance school, it is with mixed emotions that I have decided to close the Owen Sound Academy of Performing Arts. Although I have decided to pursue a new career, dance will always be one of my greatest life passions. I am excited to no longer be concentrating on running a business and can focus on teaching the Highland Program at the Owen Sound Dance Academy. I truly appreciate the support of staff, families and dancers through this journey.

Congrats to all of our highland dancers who competed at Kincardine yesterday! From two new little Primaries right up to Premier, everyone danced beautifully and we're very proud of you!

ADULT DROP-IN CLASSES START TONIGHT! Wednesdays @ 7:30pm

No experience necessary!

Join us for a mix of ballet and contemporary, designed for beginners who are interested in improving coordination, strength, and flexibility, and discovering new ways to express yourself through movement. Come dressed in comfortable workout clothes, ballet shoes optional.

FREE TRIAL CLASSES START TODAY!! Who's coming out to try a ballet class this evening?

Ballet is often considered the foundation for all other western styles of dance. Through structured classes of barre work, centre practice, and fun choreography, children will begin to develop a healthy dance practice focusing on alignment, strength, flexibility, and expression.

Yes, we now have TWO contemporary free trial dates--your child is welcome to try one or both if they wish! All of the free trial classes will give you an idea of the programs we will be offering in the fall. Hope to see you there!

What an amazing show we had today!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our beautiful and talented dancers--from the little ones stepping on stage for the first time right up to the golden oldies, you all showed your dedication and passion for dance today!

Thank you to all of the hard-working volunteers who made sure everything went so smoothly!

And thank you to everyone in the audience, we hope you enjoyed the show!

A reminder that tickets for our upcoming show LEGENDS are on sale at the Academy!!

Tickets will be sold from 5:30-7:30pm THIS WEEK ONLY! They will also be sold at the door at Meaford Hall on June 17th.

Tickets are $20 each.

With a strong foundation in technique and an uncompromising passion and dedication for their art, young dancers may find themselves working towards a post-secondary education in dance. One of our senior dancers, Maggie Armstrong, has been doing just that, and she has just been accepted into the Professional Training Program at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre!

STDT is one of the leading contemporary dance schools in the world. We are so proud of Maggie and excited to see her make her way as a dance artist!
