Whose ready for a holiday market like no other!? We'll be at the Urban Art Collective's Not Your Typical Holiday Market this Saturday and Sunday!

Stop by 28th booth street between 2pm-7pm on either (or both) days to shop a fabulous selection of gifts and goodies from a bunch of talented local makers and artisans.

Join us for a festive experience with a twist at the Not Your Typical Holiday Market! This indoor event is all about celebrating the holiday season in unconventional and exciting ways.

Title: Constant Motion
Medium: Watercolor and Ink on Paper - 11.5" x 8"
Process: Watercolor circles on dry paper in a pink and purple color scheme allowing the paint to pool to create contrast. Splatter a layer of color to create small droplets. Once dry, add curved and straight lines using a black ink fine-liner to create a sense of movement
Inspiration: Pink and purple inspire a mix of playful creativity, calm, warmth, and love. The circular composition with the "motion lines" encourage the ideas of motion and momentum. Paired together this piece is created to inspire feelings of positive personal growth.

It's the spookiest day of the year 👻
As a huge fan of fall and Halloween I go through phases with my art where I like to make things that are more eerie and mysterious. When I think about some of my creepier work I always think about my "Mist in the Hills" photo collection

Title: Green Blue Purple Rectangles
Medium: Watercolor paint on paper - 8.5" x 5.5"
Process: fully hydrate paper with water and let soak in, using a wide flat brush creating a grid of rectangular strokes in a gradient of colors allowing the edges to gently blend into each other.
Inspiration: I made this piece years ago when I first starting delving into the realm of abstract watercolors. This piece is a study in how to create with structure while leaning into the flexibility of watercolor paints, seeing how they blend and dry, and finding the balance between control and letting go.

Stripes but make it fun. This funky doodle stripe pattern is so fun and I feel like it is just perfect for adding texture and color to a wall.

My "Textured Doodle Stripes - Swirl Dash Herringbone" pattern is available in 6 color schemes and available as both wallpaper and fabric on Spoonflower.

Title: The Start And End Of Autumn
Medium: 8" x 10" Watercolor and Ink on Paper
Process: Layering loosely painted circles and paint splattered over a grey washed background and added thin black ink line art circles over top when paint has dried.
Inspiration: Fall has always been my favorite season and I find the transitions of season between summer and winter a magical time. I wanted to capture that feeling of magic, transition, and the majesty of fall.

Title: Autumn Willow Branches
Medium: 5.8"x8.3" Acrylic Paint and Ink on Black Paper
Process: Layering small vertical brushstrokes of yellow, red, and burgundy acrylic paint and then overlapping lines of willow-like leaf outlines using black ink
Inspiration: In the area around my grandparent's house is a little pond with a large willow tree that dangles over the water. In the fall, the tangle of leaves start to change color and the warm tones get reflected in the water below creating a colorful curtain that just inspires feelings of cozy fall evenings.

I've always been an eclectic maximalist and I feel like it comes through pretty clearly in my art. When I create particularly bold and fun pieces like this I love to envision them as large statement pieces like this wall mural. Let me know, would you put this piece on a whole wall?

Title: Chaotic Flower Garden
Medium: 12" x 9" Watercolor and Acrylic Ink on Paper
Process: Create Overlapping organic shapes with lots of liquid on the brush to allow the colors to blend into each other. After drying, define shapes and blank space with black acrylic ink.
Inspiration: This piece was an experiment in color layering and leaning in to the idea of "too much". With this piece my goal was trying to find the balance between using a variety of bright colors, textures, and patterns (that could easily be overwhelming) to create a cohesive piece that feels like an overgrown garden of florals, naturally chaotic and beautiful.
