It's opening week for One Small Misstep from Lost Baggage Musical Theatre! The show is performing at The Gladstone Theatre for one week only, get your tickets here: https://thegladstone.ca/shows/one-small-misstep/

One Small Misstep is a sci-fi musical comedy that follows a ragtag crew of misfits stranded on an unknown planet. Their mission to repair a communications array and send out a distress signal takes a turn when Sam, an unassuming crew member, learns the shocking truth about her origins. As an old lover, Demona, arrives with a personal vendetta, Sam is forced to confront the complex web of relationships that shaped her past.

Amidst high-stakes drama and laugh-out-loud moments—including an unexpectedly hilarious yodeling scene, the crew must navigate a series of emotional and comedic challenges. As Sam uncovers the truth of her birth and her separation from her parents, the story delves into the consequences of past decisions, lost love, and the search for redemption.

Through catchy musical numbers, clever dialogue, and a unique blend of comedy and heartfelt moments, One Small Misstep explores themes of family, identity, and forgiveness. Will Sam be able to repair the fractured relationships in her life, or will the weight of past mistakes be too much to overcome? This captivating show takes audiences on an unforgettable journey through space, love, and the messiness of human connection.

The deadline is one day away! This is your moment to apply to join us at Producer's Lab this March!

If you’ve been carrying projects on your back, holding the vision, solving the problems, translating the chaos, chasing funding, you are already producing.

But doing the work without the tools, language, and structure is exhausting. And it’s the fastest way to stall your career or burn yourself out. In five focused days, you don’t talk about hypothetical projects. You work on your real one and we give you the tools you need as a producer!

You leave with:
• a clear, defensible project
• a production roadmap you can actually follow
• a funding strategy grounded in reality
• a sharpened pitch that lands
• and a stronger producer identity that carries forward

This intensive follows the real lifecycle of a production, not a syllabus:
Vision. Structure. Money. Market. People. Sustainability.

You are also paid a $500 stipend for your time.

Applying doesn’t require perfection.
You submit:
• a CV (any format)
• a real project pitch (written, audio, or video)
That’s it.

Applications close in just a few days on Monday January 26, so get your applications in (Link in bio)

Learn more about Iain, who will be facilitating the webinar tomorrow on Producing Theatre (Free to attend) and will be hosting our 5-day intensive in March on Producing!

Iain Moggach is a Canadian award-winning theatre director, producer, and performing arts educator based in Barrie, Ontario. Known for his compelling stage direction and dedication to arts mentorship, Iain has built a national reputation for creating emotionally resonant, visually imaginative, and actor-centred productions.

Originally from Ottawa, Iain has directed professional theatre productions in seven cities across Canada, working in diverse styles including musicals, Shakespeare, contemporary drama, historical storytelling, and world premieres of new Canadian plays. As a theatre producer, he has led more than 24 projects, collaborating with artists, playwrights, and organizations to bring bold, meaningful work to the stage.

Iain’s directing practice is grounded in rigorous dramaturgy, collaborative leadership, and actor-driven processes. He creates rehearsal environments that are safe, open, and creatively focused; spaces where artistic risk is encouraged and emotional honesty is prioritized. He is particularly drawn to plays that explore memory, time, and the lingering impact of the past on the present. His aesthetic favours poetic theatricality over strict realism: intimate, emotionally precise, and unapologetically human.

As a theatre educator and mentor, Iain has developed programs for emerging directors and producers, facilitated workshops for arts organizations, and championed the growth of regional theatre across Ontario. His work reflects a deep commitment to the future of Canadian theatre and to building inclusive, supportive spaces for the next generation of performing artists.

Looking ahead, Iain is actively seeking new creative partnerships with professional theatre companies. He is open to directing opportunities in classical theatre, new play development, regional theatre productions and festivals, and touring productions across Canada and internationally.
