This is a team-building and interactive music activity that I love to do with our students!

Here, they were working in small groups to create various rhythms on their boards — writing music notes, figuring out the patterns, and then clapping and singing them together.

Some came to the activity with a little more music knowledge than others, so there was an opportunity for those students to be acknowledged for their smarts! And that’s exactly what makes working together so valuable. They share what they know, the students get a chance to help one another feel the rush of success as they work as a team.

The students discover that everyone brings different strengths to the room.
Next time, it might be someone else who knows the dance step, remembers the lyrics or has the perfect idea for a scene.

At Express Yourself, learning isn’t about already knowing the answer. It’s about having the confidence to discover it together.

Learning together is one of our favourite ways to learn.

Success isn’t only about what a child grows up to do. It’s also about who they grow up to be.

Through singing, dancing and acting, children practise listening, working with others, sharing ideas, taking turns, handling nerves, encouraging their peers and becoming comfortable expressing themselves.

Those skills can help them build friendships, work as part of a team, navigate relationships and one day bring confidence and empathy into their own families and communities.

At Express Yourself, we believe the arts help prepare children not just for the stage — but for life.

Nothing makes us happier than hearing that a student went home excited after their very first class. ☺️

💬 This lovely message came from a parent after our first week, and it pretty much sums up what we hope every child feels at Express Yourself — welcomed, encouraged and excited to come back.

Sometimes the best moments happen when you simply let their imaginations take over.

Our Junior Stars asked Miss Shelby to read The Paper Bag Princess — and then decided they were going to act it out!

We love seeing our youngest performers feel brave enough to jump in, use their imaginations and express themselves with such confidence.

Junior Stars is for ages 4–6, and there’s still time to join us this fall. Registration remains open until the end of November for all ages.

The fun begins September 26!

At Express Yourself, our Saturdays are filled with imagination, creativity, music, movement and plenty of opportunities to step into a character — even the Big Bad Wolf!

🌟 Little Stars | Ages 4–6�Saturdays 9:00–10:30 AM
🌟 Rising Stars | Ages 7–16�Saturdays 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
