Messy hands, big imaginations & a little community to grow with!

Mini Monet is back this fall!

Designed for toddlers and preschoolers 18 months to school-aged, Mini Monet is our 6-week process art + sensory play program where children and their grown-ups can explore, create, play and connect.

Each week, the studio is filled with open-ended art invitations, sensory experiences and opportunities for children to explore at their own pace.

There’s no pressure to make something look a certain way. Instead, we focus on the process, experimenting with materials, making choices, getting messy, building confidence and discovering what happens when little hands are given the freedom to create.

And Mini Monet is about more than art.

It’s a chance for children to play alongside familiar faces week after week, and for grown-ups to connect too. Community and connection have always been at the heart of this program. ❤️

Our flexible format makes mornings with little ones a little easier. Arrive and leave when it works for your family, or stay and play for the full two hours. We simply ask everyone to arrive by 10:30am, as we come together for circle time at 11am.

Need a little more flexibility?

We have 13 dedicated spaces for families joining us for the full 6-week session, PLUS we reserve 2 single-class spaces each week for shift-working families or those who can only join us occasionally.

Weekly single-class spots will become available online the first week of September.

Because at this age, art doesn’t need to be about the finished product. The experimenting, exploring, playing and connecting IS the important part.

Our fall Baby Classes are almost full, and we can’t wait to welcome a new group of babies (and their grown-ups!) into the studio.

At Heartworks, our baby programs are designed around the way babies learn best, through sensory exploration, movement, music, connection and PLAY.

BABY & ME SENSORY PLAY
Best for babies 3 months to crawling
Thursdays • 10:30am OR 1:30pm

A gentle introduction to sensory play filled with songs, movement, early literacy, sensory experiences and lots of opportunities to explore alongside your baby.

BABY PICASSO
Best for babies on the move to confidently walking
Mondays • 1:30pm

For our busier babies who are ready to explore! Baby Picasso is all about sensory play, movement and discovery. As the session progresses, we introduce some wonderfully messy first art experiences, giving babies the chance to squish, smear, touch and create at their own pace.

Not quite on the move yet? Babies who can sit independently are also welcome to join Baby Picasso.

Each class is 1 hour and your registration includes:

Your own baby sensory egg shakers + sensory scarves to keep
- A beautiful themed footprint keepsake
- A clay handprint keepsake
- Plenty of songs, sensory play, connection and wonderfully messy memories

And while your baby thinks they’re simply playing, they’re busy building important skills, supporting sensory development, fine and gross motor skills, early communication, curiosity and their growing understanding of the world around them.

Fall Art Classes are coming!

Art gives children a place to experiment, make choices, solve problems, take creative risks and discover what they’re capable of. And at Heartworks, we think all of that important learning should still feel like FUN.

Our much-loved school-aged art programs are back this fall!

CREATE CLUB | Ages 5–10
Mondays • 5:30–7pm • 6 weeks

Part art class, part creative playground! Create Club blends process-focused art with open-ended exploration and sensory play. Artists experiment with different materials and techniques, follow their own ideas, and have time to play and explore in our sensory rooms.

ART FUNdamentals | Ages 7–11
Wednesdays • 5:30–7pm • 8 weeks

For artists ready to dig a little deeper! We explore different art mediums, techniques and foundational skills while giving young artists plenty of room to develop their own artistic voice and create work that feels uniquely theirs.

Both programs are led by two of our long-time Heartworks Arts Educators, with just 13–15 artists per class, keeping groups small enough for plenty of individual support, encouragement and connection.

So, which class is the right fit?

Create Club = art + exploration + sensory play
Art FUNdamentals = more focused art-making + skill building

Both programs nurture creativity, confidence, problem-solving, fine motor development and self-expression, and both finish with one of our favourite Heartworks traditions: an Art Show celebrating our artists and everything they’ve created!

Because childhood needs more opportunities to make, imagine, experiment and create. ❤️

Just a few weeks left of summer!

We have 2 spots left in our Itty Bitty Art Camp for children heading into JK or SK this fall!

This camp is filled with skill-building, creativity, sensory-rich play and plenty of opportunities to build confidence and independence before the start of a brand-new school year.

Through art and hands-on exploration, our little artists will practice fine motor skills, problem-solving, following multi-step directions, making their own creative choices and working alongside new friends, all while having a whole lot of fun.

Led by a local teacher alongside Molli, one of our wonderful Arts Educators, this camp is designed especially with our youngest campers in mind.

And on the final day, families are invited in for a mini art show to celebrate everything they’ve created!

Only 3 spots remain in our Art FUNdamentals Camp for ages 7–11!

Monday–Thursday | Aug. 10–13 | 9am–1pm

This is our only camp designed especially for older artists, and it wraps up with a special student art show on the final day where family members are invited to celebrate all they’ve created.

This camp is about so much more than making beautiful art.

Yes, we’ll learn new techniques, experiment with quality art materials, and create projects kids are proud to take home. But we’ll also spend the week building confidence, learning to trust our ideas, solving creative problems, taking healthy risks, and discovering that mistakes often become the most interesting part of the process.

Our small group size means every child is truly seen, encouraged, and supported. There’s plenty of time for guided art lessons, open-ended creating, exploring, and connecting with other creative kids.

If your child loves to draw, paint, build, imagine, or simply needs a space where creativity is celebrated, we’d love to welcome them.

Only 3 spots remain!

Camp tuition is $276.85 (tax included).

We also have one 50% scholarship available or two 75% scholarships. There is no means testing, if a reduced-cost spot would make camp possible for your family, simply reach out. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to create.

Week 3 of Summer Camp is in the books, and what an incredible week it was! We’ve loved watching friendships grow, confidence bloom, and imaginations come to life through paint, clay, mixed media, and lots of creative exploration.

We have one more July camp coming up that has just 1 spot left!

At Heartworks, our camps are intentionally small, allowing for a low child-to-instructor ratio so every child receives encouragement and support. We use high-quality art materials, balance open-ended creative exploration with engaging guided projects, and create an environment where children feel safe to experiment, take creative risks, and express themselves.

Art is so much more than making something beautiful to take home. Through the creative process, children build confidence, strengthen fine motor skills, practice problem-solving, develop emotional regulation, and experience the joy that comes from bringing their own ideas to life.

I think next summer we’ll need to add even more one-day mini camps, they’ve been so popular!

Summer is made for creating, exploring, and making a little bit of a mess!

We have so many fun art projects planned all summer long! There are still a few spots available in some of our camps, and waitlists are open for all of our sold-out camps.

Our full summer Open Studio calendar is also online and ready to book! Weekend availability is limited, so if you’re hoping to visit on a Sunday, we recommend reserving your spot in advance. While weekends don’t usually sell out, we do occasionally cancel an Open Studio if no one has registered ahead of time. Sometimes it looks like there’s lots of availability because everyone is planning to walk in, but without advance registrations we can’t always tell if anyone is coming.

We hope you’ll make art part of your family’s summer. Whether it’s a camp, an Open Studio visit, or simply creating together at home, creativity has a wonderful way of slowing us down, bringing us together, and making summer memories that last long after the season ends.

Baby class update!

Our Baby & Me Sensory Play class sold out for September so quickly! We recently ran a poll to see how we could better accommodate more families this fall, and based on your feedback we’ve made a few changes to our schedule.

Last year many families requested a morning Baby Picasso, and it was incredibly popular throughout the year. As we head into September with so many new babies joining our community, it looks like there’s a greater need for an afternoon Baby Picasso and morning Baby & Me classes.

Here’s our new fall schedule:

Monday • 1:00 pm – Baby Picasso
Perfect for babies on the move through about 18 months. (If your baby is sitting independently, over 6 months, and this time works best for your family, we’re often happy to make an exception.)

Thursday • 10:30 am & 1:30 pm – Baby & Me Sensory Play
Designed for babies approximately 3 months through crawling. If your little one is younger than 3 months but you’re ready to get out of the house, meet other parents, and begin your sensory play and early literacy journey a little early, we’d love to welcome you too!

If there’s enough interest in bringing back a Tuesday morning Baby Picasso (around 10:30 or 11:00 am), I do have room in the schedule. If that’s something you’d love to see, let me know in the comments!

Every September brings a whole new group of little ones with different routines, naps, and schedules. We do our best to create a timetable that works for as many families as possible, and your feedback truly helps us make those decisions. Thank you for sharing it with us!
