Standing on the shoulders of giants. β¨
As a Black woman in the carnival space, I am constantly reminded that the paths we walk today were paved by visionary leaders who dared to imagine more for our communities. The work and contributions of the Honorable Dr. Jean Augustine's Center For Young Women's Empowerment will continue to inspire generations, and through her Future Forward initiative, she demonstrates the power of leadership, service, and possibility.
Her legacy is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we invest in our communities, create opportunities for others on the foundation of Carnival, and lead with purpose.
So many firsts on the room, such as the legendary Judge Pamela Appelt, Canada's first Black woman appointed to the Court of Canadian Citizenship.
As the powerful rendition echoed through the walls, we will break through the glass ceiling. Thank you for the reminder β¨οΈ
Thank you all for allowing me to share space and providing me with a seat at the tableπΏ
