‘PAW Patrol’ & Spinoff ‘Rubble & Crew’ Renewed For Two More Seasons At Nickelodeon!

Kokum & Dot has been renewed for a second season ahead of its broadcast premiere on June 21, 2026, which is National Indigenous Peoples Day. The live-action TELUS independent kids series, which features Cree language, is helmed by director and producer April Johnson (Reginald the Vampire), written by Jules Koostachin (WaaPake) and stars veteran Indigenous actor and musician Renae Morriseau (North of 60). The 8 x 11 minute episodes are inspired by the life and work of Elder Dorothy Visser and will launch June 21st on TELUS Optik TV Video on Demand, and on the TELUS TV+ app with an Optik TV or Stream+ subscription.
In Kokum & Dot, Dorothy (Renae Morriseau) engages with Dot (a rod-arm hand puppet who represents Kokum’s inner child) and asks about her day. Sometimes Dot struggles to find the right words to describe how she feels – that’s when Dorothy introduces new Cree words to help Dot explain herself. In each episode viewers are introduced to Cree vocabulary and themes centred on Cree culture’s 7 guiding principles: love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility and truth.
Kokum & Dot is a TELUS independent production, produced by Ekosi Productions and Second Son, directed and produced by April Johnson, written by Jules Koostachin (Molly of Denali), Renae Morriseau (The X-Files) stars as Kokum Dorothy and composes the music for the project, Kellie Haines (Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow TV Movie, Snowpiercer) is Dot the puppet, Rose Stiffarm is the director of photography, executive producer is Patti Poskitt, Tanner Zurkoski is animation producer, Matthew Leaf is consulting producer and Christina Willings is the production executive for TELUS.
