Pro Arte Centre and Pro Merita Learning Centre are honoured to mark today - Remembrance Day - a day meant to be a solemn day of remembrance. On this day, we pause to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for their country. This can be done in many ways, including by reading the names of veterans on a statue, attending a ceremony, or attending a Remembrance Day event. During World War II, over 44,000 Canadians gave their lives in service. In the First World War, often said to be the “forgotten war,” more than 60,000 Canadians died, more than a third of them as prisoners of war. Canada, however, has never forgotten those who have sacrificed their lives on its behalf. Today, we pause to remember the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. We hope that by reading the names of our veterans, and by visiting their war cemeteries, we can never forget the importance of remembering those who have sacrificed their lives for our country.
