Today is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on the experiences and ongoing realities of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. We honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and those who continue to carry this history forward.

For the last eight years Presentation House Theatre has been honoured to play a part in bringing Nchem̓ús Day to our community. This is a celebration of Indigenous artist partners. The name Nchem̓ús means “people coming together.” It comes from a consultation counsel between Dallas Guss and Dustin Rivers, who gifted the theatre the name.

We are spending today reflecting on the gift it has been to share art with led by Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, Elders, artists, storytellers, and friends, and we hope in doing so we can continue to uphold the ethos of Truth and Reconciliation Day. The photos shared are from Nchem̓ús Day in 2024.
