Exciting news team!
Our year-end extravaganza, MONSTER NATION will take place at Centennial Theatre on Sunday, June 15. All classes registered in the Spring Term (3yrs + up) are invited to participate!

Registration for the Spring Term is as follows:
Sat classes at Shift Dance Academy: Wed. Feb 26 / 7am
Mon / Tues / Wed / Thurs classes at NVRC: Thurs Mar 6 / 7am

All days and times for Spring classes will remain the same as the Winter Term with the addition of one more 5-7yrs class on Saturdays from 12-12:45pm.

Do you know about Grit [it’s the best].
If you have a kiddo 7yrs&up - come join us on Sunday - info below and dm if you have questions!

Hey! What’s your kid doing for New Years’ on Sunday? We have 3 spots open in our New Years’ Workshop/Party and we’d love them to join us. Here’s the scoop:

Sunday, Dec 31 / 11am-2pm / Shift Dance Academy / all kids welcome 7-13yrs / $55
We’ll be:
👉🏽skipping through the ups + downs of 2023
👉🏽making a plan for brain-health in 2024
👉🏽creating masks portraying how the world sees us vs. how we see ourselves
👉🏽compiling care packages for our un-housed neighbours on the DTES (from donations we received all December)
👉🏽eating, drinking, dance-partying
👉🏽+ obviously meditating.

This will be the last time we meet up for a while so let’s whoop it up a bit, right?

Hi team,
For the month of December all Grit + Pink Petal + Concrete Living classes will be collecting things to be compiled into little care packages for our neighbours in need. The bundles will be compiled by our Grit kids in our New Year’s Eve Party on Dec 31 and distributed to the DTES on New Years Day. Things like adult socks, Tim Hortons gift cards, granola bars, candy etc…are welcome.

Please just bring to class and we’ll take care of the rest!  

If you’d rather e-transfer a small amount to [email protected], I can buy stuff on your behalf too. Let’s do this!

Mini-Grit starts Oct 23!

Mini-Grit is the younger sibling of our Grit program where we dive into brain-health + soul-resilience. In mini-grit, we dip our toes into all the things that can affect our mental health in a light, playful way. We dip into what anxiety is - where we feel it - and what to do with it. We dip into friendships: how to actually make friends, what relational aggression is all about, why people bully and what we can do about it. We dip into labeling and noticing our emotions - the hard ones - the easier ones. We explore how moving our bodies can affect how we feel. And we figure out how being creative gets us out of the loop of anxiety in our brains. It’s such a great time.

A new term of mini-grit for 7-9yrs runs Monday Oct 30-Dec 18 from 4-5:30pm at the beautiful Pipe Shop at Shipbuilders’ Square.

How’re the kids? Do you have a 7-9yr old that might need some tools for navigating anxiety? Or for dealing with friendships? Or who needs to connect to kids other than their school-friends?

Come join us for some mini-grit! We’ll instil some good mental hygiene that will stay with them through the tough times - PLUS, we’ll have tons of fun with crafts, yoga and just being goofy.

Mondays 4-5:30pm
