This is a non-Equity production
Audition is an open call, first come first seen.
Cold read from the script – sides will be available prior to audition.
If you would like to be considered for a featured singing part, you will have the option to sing a prepared cut of a song from the show

Actors should be able to play age 10+.

Callback auditions will consist of script work, character improv, group singing, and a dance call. If selected for a Callback audition, you will be provided with further sides and instructions.
All cast and crew members of the production must join NVCP prior to the first rehearsal ($20 fee and $10 for students)
Cast Requirements
Welcome to Hendry Castle, a place of enchantments, silly jokes, fun songs, and slapstick shenanigans! Our selfish and spoiled Prince has been turned into a hideous Beast by a sly Enchantress. He must learn to love before Christmas day or it will be permanent, and a single red rose reminds him how long he has left. Beauty agrees to imprisonment in the Castle to save her father; could she be the one to break the spell? Join Beauty, Dame Patty Potty, Chip, Gaston, and others for an unforgettable adventure!
DAME PATTY POLLY
Larger-than life, obnoxious, raunchy, opinionated and full of corny jokes and slapstick physical humour. The Housekeeper of the Prince’s castle, Patty is the classical Panto Dame. Traditionally played by a man but open to actors of any gender.
Gaston
Self centered, arrogant, and vain, Gaston thinks he is the strongest, most handsome, manliest man in the village. Many in the village agree with him, but Beauty does not. Unable to grasp the concept of not getting what he wants, he pursues Beauty and seeks to prove himself by killing the beast. Open to actors of any gender.
Frank
Gaston’s sidekick. Full of energy, corny jokes, and a long-suffering attitude from being bossed around by such a buffoon.
Prince / Beast:
The spoiled and selfish royalty of the classic story who gets transformed into a terrible beast and must learn to love and put others before himself. Can be played by any gender. Must be comfortable wearing a mask, and likely a whole lot of faux fur. Traditionally the male hero is played by a woman, but open to actors of any gender.
Enchantress
The Good Fairy of the Pantomime, she disguises herself as an old woman and casts a spell on the Prince to turn him into a Beast. She makes many small appearances to take petals from the Rose and remind the Prince of how much time he has left.
Chip
Dame Patty Potty’s son. He works at the castle with his mom and gives her grief with his silly questions and misunderstanding instructions. The character is a child who can be played by a teen or young adult.
Beauty
The heroine of our story, Beauty is intelligent, kind, gentle, and loves books. She is pursued by Gaston, whose nonsense she does not put up with. Once trapped in the Beast’s castle she is kind but firm with the Beast, giving him many opportunities to develop empathy and love.
Maurice
eauty’s father, a frail old man, who is an inventor and a bit out of touch. He cares for Beauty more than anything, but can not stand up to the terrifying Beast on his own
Ensemble
The ensemble will play a variety of characters throughout, such as villagers, girls who fawn over Gaston, pages of the Prince, wolves and storm spirits in the wood, etc.
