🔊Meet Morgan Sears-Williams , our final artist interview for Image & Object. Experiments in Photography: Image & Object wrapped up last week! We are grateful to all the artists who made this exhibition so special.

Morgan Sears-Williams (b. 1991) is an interdisciplinary artist and cultivator based in Vancouver. Through her art practice, she reflects on q***r feminist histories both known and unknown, while speaking to larger societal structures of power and oppression. Bridging methods of alternative processes, experimental film and q***r histories (both personal and political), she troubles traditional approaches to analog film in order to address contemporary concerns in image making. She has exhibited her works across Turtle Island and internationally at Gallery 44, Arsenal Contemporary, Contemporary Calgary and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery.

🔊Meet Alexine McLeod!
Alexine McLeod is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores perception, spirituality, and lens-based technologies. Since completing her BFA at Emily Carr University (2016) and MFA at the University of Guelph (2020), she has created immersive installations and lightboxes using found materials and projected light. Experimenting with the curiosities inherent in seeing through the lens of photography, her work layers colour, shadow, and form to explore optical dynamics between colour, space and surface. McLeod’s recent light-based imagery invites viewers into active looking, where vibrant obstructions and spatial compressions reveal depth in the periphery.

Tomorrow is the final day to visit the exhibition! Experiments in Photography: Image & Object is part of the Capture Photography Festival.
