North Bay Choral Society Choir We are an adult community choir based in North Bay, Ontario

We sing an eclectic variety of music Over the years, the choir has had many incarnations.

The act of singing with others is both powerful and joyful and, while our choir fills the need for those who have never sung with others, experienced singers will find the relaxed atmosphere and alternative repertoire a refreshing change. The North Bay Choral Society is made up of members of all ages and from all walks of life. We are brought together by our common bond, the love of singing. In 19

56, the Victor Chorus was formed under the direction of Victor Kviesis, with Olive Mullin as accompanist. The choir continued until 1963 when it disbanded for a period of 8 years. Former Chorus members organized a new choir into the Combined Ecumenical Choir of North Bay under the direction of Allen Borbridge. The choir eventually became known as the North Bay Choral Society which is now led by Lynda Burtch and accompanied by Marilyn Sutherland. Membership dues are $100 per season and there are two seasons in a year. Practices are held every Monday evening whether live or virtual. Recorded tracks are provided to members to learn and record their pieces. Recordings are only necessary if the choir is running in a virtual format. The ability to read music is not necessary but it can be helpful.

Come and enjoy an afternoon concert of iconic Canadian music. Listen to the sounds of Gordon Lightfoot, Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, Stompin' Tom and many more. We have a piper, some fiddlers, dancers and drummers. We are blessed to be performing a truly haunting song from Corey Payette's Children of God, a story of children sent to a residential school in Northern Ontario - Gimikwenden Ina.
